Overview & Reviews
Newly optional on Limited is a package that matches the bumpers and tailgate handle to the body color. The TRD Off-Road package is now available on Access Cabs with a V8 engine, while models equipped with a V6 receive an upgraded alternator. A note-pad holder is now optional on SR5 and Limited, while Base regular cab trucks lose their standard cassette player. Two new colors are available, filling three slots left vacant by old colors that have been discontinued.
- Silky V8, Toyota build quality, less-than-full-size maneuverability.
- Lacks wide range of choice offered by domestics, somewhat uncomfortable front seats, meager rear cab room on Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

Finest built truck - 2001 Toyota Tundra
By rob220 - February 22 - 4:43 pmI bought this truck with 218k from my good friend right before he passed away and he used it not only to commute around 130 miles a day but also on a farm towing full hay wagons through fields and other farm stuff. It now has 237k and in that distance the only problem I had was the starter went.Yes the exhaust manifolds leak but its been that way since I got it one year ago. the timing belt is probably original along with the oxy sensors but I toasted a 2010 f150 5.4 triton last week with it and it didnt care. I have yet to this day found anything that my stock 01 tundra couldnt do, It still runs and stops great.

135,000 miles and loving it - 2001 Toyota Tundra
By clintncrys - January 4 - 1:37 pmI bought this truck used, but have loved it the entire time. It is comfortable for a full-size truck, and super reliable. It isnt capable of doing super heavy duty towing, but I havent come up against anything that I need to pull, but cant - its just not a diesel.

Tundra is my best vehicle eve - 2001 Toyota Tundra
By Sadius_Dread - December 16 - 10:00 amWithout a doubt, my Tundra has been the best truck so far. The only issue is the relative poor gas mileage that it has. It rides well and easily meets my needs. If I would change anything is some more leg room in extended cab since only small children could be comfortable in back.

I luv my TUNDRA - 2001 Toyota Tundra
By RJCJ - November 16 - 9:46 amI owned my first toy.truck in 1993 and it was a DOG. I purchased a 4-rnnr in 2000 and in a flip and roll accident it spared 3 lives and not 1. I purchased the tundra in 2001 and never looked back. The truck is a workhorse and with the exception of the oxygen sensor (which Toyota recalled in Nov 2004 and paid for my previous related expense) it performs better, rides better and handle better than any truck or SUV Ive ever owned. The only other truck I would like to have is the new toyato truck I saw at an auto show. I cant remember the name but will surely remember the look when it arrives in the showroom.

Best truck we ever owned - 2001 Toyota Tundra
By Trundra Limited 4.7 - August 28 - 1:00 amThis has been the most reliable and comfortable truck we have ever owned. Great design and never a problem. We have 115k two sets of tires so far and never a failure of any kind.
