This Year's Model Updates:

Newly optional on Limited is a package that matches the bumpers and tailgate handle to the body color. The TRD Off-Road package is now available on Access Cabs with a V8 engine, while models equipped with a V6 receive an upgraded alternator. A note-pad holder is now optional on SR5 and Limited, while Base regular cab trucks lose their standard cassette player. Two new colors are available, filling three slots left vacant by old colors that have been discontinued.

Pros:
  • Silky V8, Toyota build quality, less-than-full-size maneuverability.
Cons:
  • Lacks wide range of choice offered by domestics, somewhat uncomfortable front seats, meager rear cab room on Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

  • Because I Love My Truck! - 2001 Toyota Tundra
    By -

I bought my Tundra just over a month ago from a great used car dealer in Poulsbo, WA. The truck had 107K on it at delivery. It had just one previous owner who also is local and had obviously taken good care of it but enjoyed using it as well. It is a joy to drive, and I have good peace of mind that, like all other Toyotas Ive owned, itll take good care of me for hundreds of thousands of miles. I have the whole service history from the dealer, and the only part that went bad on that truck was a rear O2 sensor. Ive already tested its off-road capabilities an an orv park here and it was almost boring because of how well it did. Cmon winter!

I owned three 4x4 Toyota trucks in the last 25 years then bought a 4x4 Dodge. A year later went back to Toyota. Reliability counts for a lot and this is the most reliable truck I have owned. I have been pulling a 24 foot boat on flat land and cant even tell its there.

  • Safest Truck on the Road - 2001 Toyota Tundra

Great truck, rides nice, and has the safest rating of any full sized truck. Gas milage averages around 15 MPG.

It rides and drives like a car . Smooth and quiet I really like that .It will carry about anything you load in the bed. Its just a very good truck thats all.

  • Its almost perfect - 2001 Toyota Tundra

My parents bought this car in 2004 with about 45,000 miles on it. The truck is smooth, powerful, quiet, confidence inspiring. We have been averaging 19 mpg in town and about 21 on the freeway w/out 4 wheel drive. Pretty good for a V8 and heavy truck. The only problem is the transmission...It works wonderfully until you have to tow your heavy trailer! 6500 pounds down hill broke the weaker parts in the Tranny, atleast it was safe enough to drive the rest of the way home! Otherwise, great truck...does that kill the point of having a truck? I tend to think so.

Like driving a luxury car with a bed. All I move around is my music gear, and the occasional trip to Lowes. This truck is perfect for me. After owning nothing but Hondas and one Ford, I think Ill stick with Toyota. Everything feels extremely solid, and the engine and transmission are smooth as silk

  • Best V-6 Truck on the market - 2001 Toyota Tundra
    By -

After test driving all full-size trucks on the market found this one to be the best. Smooth quiet ride, better fit & finish than Dodge,GM or Ford. Engines are more advanced than domestics. V-6 is not fast but strong & steady no matter what the load. Interior materials & finish far superior to domestics. Avergage about 18-20 mpg. 01 models built better than 00 trucks. Sloppy assembly evident in dented radiator and mis-aligned bed. Otherwise an excellent truck.

  • Too great to under-rate! - 2001 Toyota Tundra

Bought new. Unbelievable ride for 4WD..... smoooooooth and powerful. Usess a little too much gas, but does run on regular 87 octane (cheapest). Dependable, great looking, eye- catching, fun to drive (especially on the beach). Great on or off road. Plenty room for two and comfortable. Luxury of a Lexus.

I have 55000 miles on my Tundra and have never had to bring it in for repairs. Not even a recall! This truck has plenty of power and feels solid as a rock! No rattles or viabrations. Excellent mileage when not towing. Average around 17 MPG.
