Model Overview:

Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.

Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

  • Toyota Best Buy - 2003 Toyota Tacoma

I sold my 89 Toyota after buying my 2oo3 Toyota not because I needed $2500, but because I would never drive it after driving my 2003. The 89 toyota had 125000 miles and never saw a repair or service shop. I performed all service myself, valves, brakes, fuel filters etc. In other words I thought the 89 was the best. The 2003 is 100% better. What more can I say. Toyota is Best!

  • Love the Taco - 2003 Toyota Tacoma

TRD and Limited pkgs: Get rid of the factory tires (BF Good All Terrain), horrible in rain (pavement). Not sure Limited pkg was worth the money, but overall the Tacoma has been very reliable. Works great off-road in the mud, sand etc. even w/o 4x4. Great for anyone wanting a truck that works like a full size, but with the smaller frame and enthusiasm to play hard.

  • TRD Off Road Package #2 (OG) - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

I have only had this truck a week and have 700 miles on it. It was pretty hard to get a 4X4 down here in Southern California. I had been searching about a month. When FINALLY a white one with the TRD Off Road package #2 (OG) hit ONE dealership. I took it up to Big Bear yesterday to check out the low range gearing and to try out the magic "Locker Button" (the rear differential lock). All went well and I am pretty happy with the truck so far. I figure mileage will improve some when the truck has a few thousand more miles on it. Its closer to 17 than 20 mpg. I am glad I waited for the white paint, I feel it looks better than the silver that they seem to be pumping out of the factory.

  • Interior Comfort and Design -- So Disappointed - 2014 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

Purchased my new 2014 Toyota Tacome V6 w/ Tow Pckg in April of this year. Been on a few trips this year. Getting a new vehicle was huge for me, of my own, as was getting a truck! I love love love having my own truck. And I have loved Toyotas in the past. So my heartbreak is quite profound regarding my experience. Interior comfort is horrible. The design of the seats is such that it makes a person hunch forward, and this cannot be alleviated with raising or lowering the headrest, or by adjusting the lumbar knob which really doesnt do much besides adjust the firmness of the seat behind your lower back. After 2.5 hours on the road, my back was screaming in pain. After 7, in tears.

  • Overpriced Toyota - 2004 Toyota Tacoma

I am sorry that I bought this truck for the money I paid for it. After driving my friends Nissan Frontier CrewCab longBed with the super charged v6 and hearing what he paid, I realized there is something better out there. Dont get me wrong, this is a good reliable truck, but it cost more, has a shorter bed, less power and torque, more interior noise and is lacking in certain options.

This is the best investment that I have made in any vehicle. I have never had any trouble with my truck and I enjoy actaully getting into my truck to drive around town. You can not go wrong with buying a Toyota!

  • Couldnt be happier - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

Aside from Fuel mileage, I couldnt be happier with my Tacoma. The build quality is great, creature comforts are minimal but its a truck, has everything you need. The exterior styling is second to none. The TRD package probably isnt necissary unless yoru a real off-roader but its nice to have for resale value. All in all, I wouldnt conscider any other 4 door truck for my needs. A+ for this Truck.

  • Truck that keeps needing service - 1997 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

This truck has been in the dealership once every 6/7 months. Its either a check engin light, overheating, cat. converted or rough iding. This is one of the worst truck I purchased for seeing the dealer on everything. I dont drive the truck hard and most of the time its highway miles.

  • Luxury meets function in 4x4 - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

This new generation truck makes some great advancements in ride, comfort and power. The power is a bit stealthy. It comes on smoothly and if your looking for more snap without losing too much fuel economy, just click the ETC button for a more agressive shifting pattern. My wish list for improvements would be for a better speaker system, adjustable seat height and rear seat USB access port. Low beam visabilty is poor. Outside mirrors create huge blind spots.

All positive. Tightly built, comfortable, all you would expect of Toyota quality.
