Overview & Reviews
Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.
Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

TRD offroad - 2004 Toyota Tacoma
By TRD_DRD - August 17 - 10:00 amTRD pakcage was worth the extra price. the bilstein shocks are great. But the gas milage is traumatizing- 16mpg? my 4.0 ranger got more than that, it also had better low end torque. Good move by Toyota to make make 4.0l engines in 05. now if theyd just make aggressive exhaust tone, this pickup would take in all buyers.

Great so Far! - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By mikeandemily - August 11 - 5:40 amRecently purchased a 4Dr Dbl Cab PreRunner SB. Have filled up w/gas twice already and Im getting just over 19mpg in stopngo city traffic. Not bad compared to my old Silverado. Plenty of power and a very comfortable ride. Im 61" and have plenty of room, even in the back seat! Interior quality is far better than the 02 Silverado that I traded in. Absolutely love the truck so far.

06 standard cab 4x4 Tacoma - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By gene - August 10 - 3:36 pmI bought this Tacoma in oct of 2006. Its a 2.7 i4, 5spd manual, 4x4 w/ ac. The truck itself is great. Handles well on the highway as well as offroad. My only complaint is the 5spd manual transmission. It does not shift smoothly. It sometimes hangs up going into reverse and 2nd gear. I have taken it back to the dealer a few times and was told that while they test drive it there wasnt any problem shifting. I am 55 yrs old and have been driving manual transmission trucks and cars for a while. This is the first one that felt like the trans was low on oil, or the shifter was bent out of shape. That has been the only problem I have had so far.

tacoma - 1998 Toyota Tacoma
By Daniel - August 7 - 2:46 pmMy mom bought this truck brand new in 1998. She gave it to me my freshman yr of high school which was 2000. I have put 90,000 miles since i got it, and now it has 150,000 and the engine has never been touched. I have added lift and performance parts and accessories and it looks sharp. I tow my boat and cattle trailers with ease. I recommend this pick up to everyone.

Much better than expected - 1997 Toyota Tacoma
By norque83 - August 7 - 10:00 amPerforms well; has excelent payload capabilty; best-in-class ground clearance; gas mileage isnt bad for a 4WD truck; the 4-cyl performs like a V6; the brakes are great; however, the handling is slightly ponderous at times and the seats can get uncomfortable during long trips

Best Mid Size Truck Available - 2008 Toyota Tacoma
By Howard - August 7 - 3:26 amThis is my second Tacoma, and I find the quality of this vehicle far superior to any of the others that I have owned over the years. A solid, built tough truck, that is comfortable enough to take on a family vacation!!

Great Truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By Bob Steele - August 4 - 11:13 amA great mid-size truck. With 4-cylinder, plenty of power. A LOT of power from stop to 60 MPH. Handles great. Comfort is very good. The new bed design is awesome. I hope they will not change this. Fuel economy is very acceptable. Have not had any problems with this truck. If I could change anything it would be to have had the option to add fog lights and running lights - really should be standard equipment, for safety reasons!
