  • Happy with it - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I am more than satisfied with the ownership experience, from the performance, features, and low maintenance to the positive comments I get from others about the truck. I only wish I had specified the "outside temp / compass" feature and I also wish the radio had a aux" input for iPod and XM radio input.

I have owned at least every car that Toyota has built, from the corolla to the Avalon, That is a Supra, 3 Cressidas, a 4-Runner. This truck is by far, the smoothest truck that I have ever ridden in. It rides and performs like one of my Cressidas. Heads turn when I pass. Its a joy to drive. The interior is great. Its sturdy and rides great. I dont think I went wrong with this truck...

  • Best Truck Ever! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

This is my 4th Toyota in over 20 years - they are so well-built, that I havent needed to shop much! This is a beautiful truck and I love how fast and powerful it is when you need the extra merging power/get up and go. I havent had one stitch of trouble with it and not a single factory defect, either. My Prius gas mileage is missed, but I really needed a truck, so the Tacoma was the natural choice.

  • Excellent Truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I traded my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer for a 2006 Tacoma PreRunner TRD double cab this past December. The Tacoma feels more like a full size instead of a compact. The 4.0 gets you out of the hole quick and doesnt let up. It tops out at 113 mph (governed of course). It has excellent storage under and behind the back seats as well as convenient storage pockets in the bed of the truck by the tailgate. It pulls my 2000 pound Key West boat with ease without hesitating one bit. Its a excellent truck and an investment that you wont regret.

This is a great truck, I have a 18 ft toy hauler, it pulls it great even in the big hills. I get 11 miles to the gallon pulling my trailer, and I get 18 just about every where else-- very good truck!!

  • Why Did I Wait? - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I am your typical "Truck Guy". I have loved the small 4X4 pickup since Datsun had them out in the early 80s. I have never owned one though, until this one. I dont know why I waited so long. In my job I drive many vehicles and once I drove the 06 Tacoma, I knew I was home. I havent driven a smoother more comfortable pickup of this size ever. I also have a disability that causes me to suffer a great deal of pain when driving most vehicles. I dont experience any pain when driving my Tacoma. If everyone built a vehicle this solid and reliable, I would be out of work. There is a reason that a used Tacoma sells at or near its original selling price.

  • An absolute delight! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Just replaced my first truck (a 92 Toyota compact truck) w/ a 06 Tacoma. I would not even consider another brand due to my experience w/ my 92. I honestly did not have a lot of money to spend, so I went w/ a manual transmission/regular cab. All I can say is omg wow what a lot of truck for not a lot of cash. The interior is solid as a rock, and very well put together. I have found myself frequently checking my payment book and marveling at how fantastic this vehicle is for such a low payment.

  • Worth Every Penny - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I have owned my Toyota PreRunner for over 2 yrs now and I have no regrets about purchasing this truck. It has met or exceeded my expectations, and is far superior in quality than the Ford, Chevy, and Dodge products that I have owned. My only complaint is the angulation of the center air vent on the drivers side; it blows air directly on the driver even when an attempt is made to angle it toward the rear cab. Domestic truck manufacturers have a long way to go to meet the quality and dependability of this vehicle.

  • Cool Truck! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

This is the first Tacoma that I have ever owned, and only the second Toyota that I have ever had. The Tacoma is a cool truck to say the least. I bought the PreRunner V6 Double Cab long bed with a 5 speed auto, and a TRD sport package. The truck rips!! The 4 liter V6 runs a zero to 60 in 7.5.

  • 2006 Tacoma 4cyl. Auto Access Cab SR5 - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

The four cyl. automatic has a tougher go of it in the Texas hills. Here on the coast its a good deal. It will consistently do 28 mpg on the highway at 63mph speed. Do not go to the larger wheels/tires or you will lose 2 mpg fuel economy. The optional shift or automatic (2nd, 3rd or drive only) is fun to use. I would recommend the 5 spd. manual if you want to tow with the four cyl. This long bed with the access cab can haul a lot. The short second seat is perfect for your gear, tools, groceries, or a small animal carrier. As usual for Toyota, this truck is absolutely dependable (80,500 miles in less than 3 years, w/no issues).
