Great Truck - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By TitoTacoma - February 19 - 10:00 amI Have always wanted a tacoma since middle school, so i finally got one! And love it! Although, what is with the rattling passenger airbag...ive noticed alot of people have had this problem...and yes, I HAVE IT TOO!!! what I did though was just put a small thin cloth between the windshield and dash and hadnt heard it rattle since, but the cloth is VERY noticable. If you are thinking about getting one, its a wise investment...but if you buy a 2WD it doesnt do so good off- road, id go with the 4WD...

Love My Tacoma ! - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By mptri - February 10 - 2:00 amGreat versatility with room for 5 in the cab, but able to haul just about anything in the bed. Its my first truck & I would most certainly buy another Toyota truck product in the future.

Impressed overall since purchased - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By mcarthur55 - September 23 - 2:13 pmPut most of the miles on it during the past 6 years (highway miles) driving 300 miles one way every 3-4 weeks. Since January 2010 have only put about 1200 miles on it. Comfortable for a tall person like me, and handles well. Economy was between 22-24 MPG, but got 26 a couple of times when my driving was below 60mph. Averaged 20 mpg around town. Height of truck bed low enough for carrying small loads and loading fertilizer, chicken feed, mulch in (50-60 pound bags). Selling it at 115,000 miles. Transmission went out at 78,900, but had purchased extended waranty, which covered replacement and rental car. Enjoyed truck, but cant carry new grand kids in it.

My 2nd yota - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By NAD - July 30 - 10:00 amDecent power for a 4-banger, although I wish the V6 was offered at this trim level. Comfortable ride quality, superb ergonomics, solid build, and Toyota finally put some 15" rims on its 2WD trucks. Handles great with a load in the back, no noticeable change to braking characteristics. Transmission very solid, this thing feels like it could easily handle a V8. Second gear is way too high, especially compared to the fairly low-geared first. You can tell that the build quality is much cheaper on the 2002 compared to my 1986 yota, yet it is still very solid compared to anything else. Gas mileage a bit lower than expected, 21 mpg street, 23 mpg highway. Nice truck, worth the money.

Overall best truck Ive had!!!!! - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By Eddy - June 11 - 10:00 amThe 2.7 Liter could use some more power but the TRD supercharger, it feels like an 8 cyl. I also have a V-6 crew cab which it is really strong, powerful, and fast. Hoping to supercharge it soon!!!!!!

Ownership of a Toyota Tacoma - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By Fred Analla - May 5 - 4:39 amI really enjoyed this truck, medical problems dictate that I find something else for my use. The truck has been very good and dependable, I havent had any problems other than having to install a battery. I very much enjoyed driving this vehicle and as an old an auto mechanic repairing many different vehicles this Toyota comes highly recomended.

After 10,000 miles - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By hunkele3 - March 5 - 2:00 amStill a great truck! Performance, reliability, and looks are awesome. Only complaints are annoying dashboard rattles and cheap plastic interior. My small dogs (and I) scratch the vinyl/plastic in the interior. My wifes Blazers interior is more resilient! Also ,as others have stated, clock is in stupid place. Its great in the snow, and handles like a small car. Still the best compact truck out there! Definitely worth the extra price.

Axle Wrap - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By MarkMarkN - November 4 - 10:00 amI purchased my truck 2002 dbl cab 4x4 with a TRD suspension package although axle wrap is a real problem. Axle wrap is caused by soft leaf springs distorting while braking and or accelerating causing the drive line to bind, thump and bump. It has been to the dealer twice without long term correction. A crack service tech from Toyota is supposed to work on the axle wrap problem when he is in town. It is my hope that this problem can and will be resolved soon. I have never had a Toyota or any other car with this type of problem.
