Model Overview:

Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.

Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

  • Base 4x4 VG but needs basic amenities - 2008 Toyota Tacoma

This is my 3rd Tacoma. The truck is nice and tight, no rattles or squeaks. Much bigger than my 96, which I dont like, but it rides and handles well. The bench seat is more comfortable than the one in my 96. The 2.7 engine is peppy. Wish I had opted for an automatic, but those are probably hard to find in a reg cab 4x4.

overall greatly satisfied. I drive 1200 miles a week and my last toyota has over 200,000 miles with all its original parts except timing belt. Great car for reliability.

  • Tacoma has known suspension problems - 2008 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I have had two Tacoma double cabs - 2004 and 2008. I bought the second because I was happy with the first. Unfortunately, the quality of the 08 Tacoma is disappointing and Toyotas response to documented suspension problems has been unsatisfactory. There is a widely known noise problem with newer Tacomas suspension that the company has not addressed. The truck is now an embarrassment to drive because it groans so loud. Toyota Customer Cares does not at all! Recently, the truck got stuck in wet grass and I popped a ABS sensor before I could get it us stuck...4x4?

The truck is awesome! Im 20 years old and I still dont know if I got a great deal on it or not, all I know is that I love it for what its used for. The price I ended paying for the truck was $21,500 but I had to tack on $1,500 from an insurance settlement that did not end so well. The truck handles awesome! The pick up is very impressive concidering that it is a 4 Cyl. and the room is GREAT! You get enought leg room in it to SLEEP THERE!!! Ive done it! Just once, the seat was not too confy, but it did the job. People love it! When they get in it they want it! All my friends want to test drive it due to the couple specs that I have added to it.

  • Best Value Ever - 2004 Toyota Tacoma

This truck is the best of the 3 Toyota pickups Ive owned since 1987. Checking the Kelly Blue Book and Nada a year after purchase I found it has INCREASED in value. I paid $19,888 for it and with $15,500 miles on it retail book is $22,000 Wholesale is just a few hundred dollars less than the purchase price.

  • Quality, Looks and Performance are the reasons - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I love this truck. So much that I drove 225 miles to buy it for $1,800 less than any deal I could find locally. And the dealer was willing to go out of his way to trade for the exact truck available in the color combination and options that I wanted. This truck drives and performs even better than I expected. The aggressive styling of Tacomas 4 door Access Cab are absolutely the top of the class

  • Tacoma - built for the long road. - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I shopped around for a few months. I looked at the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Ford F15 and Nissan Frontier. What pulled me to the Tacoma was the number of older Tacomas still looking great. I talked to a few Tacoma owners and asked them how they liked their truck and they all responded that they loved their truck. I am very happy that I went with the Tacoma. The truck feels solid and drives extremely well. The gas mileage could be a little better but Ill take 18 MPG versus some of the other trucks. If you want a truck thats built Tacomas the one.

  • Solid little truck - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

The Tacoma is a respectable little truck. In 6 years Ive put 75000 miles on it and only had to change tires, the battery, coolant, and oil. One thing in particular, is the steering has never gotten out of alignment, I had it checked when I replaced the OEM tires. It was right on. That was at 35000 miles. It is reliable, but slightly underpowered for its weight. It only gets about 18 mpg overall; in a range from 15 to 25 mpg. The interior is appealing except the seats are too lightweight. A seat spring makes noise sometimes. It also needs keyless entry. The headlights have never been changed and have been burning for 75000 miles! Same goes for other lights too. Ive had no major problems

Great Truck. What else is new from Toyota? I bought mine and then a week later I start noticing everybody is getting one. Fantastic truck. Great Value!

Great truck. The Handling is pretty nice and the engine is stronger. The V6 with 3100 pounds can really make this truck move.
