Model Overview:

Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.

Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

  • Fantastic Truck - 2007 Toyota Tacoma

You would be amazed that this vehicle is a truck and not a car, it drives that well. Excellent handling and more than enough power for the road. I havent owned a Toyota in years but Im elated to be back. Great design, fabulous handling as well as great fuel mileage make this truck a must have. Dont be misled by believing that a small size truck will give you better fuel mileage and more economy, this Tacoma Pre-Runner will dish out big truck features and save you money at the pump as well!! Remarkable that they can pull it all off with such a nice sized vehicle that doesnt leave you feeling like you stepped out of a shoe box instead of a roomy substantial truck! Fantastic!

  • So far so good - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Ive been reading the reviews so far and it seems like people just obtained a defective version. So far I love my truck. The interior design is of good quality and it appears upscale in comparison to other trucks. The exterior makes the truck seem bigger than it is. I purchased the manual version of the truck and so far I have not had any issues with it at 16000. My only complaint is the fact that the front drivers seat is not as roomy as I would have hoped. This makes adjusting it leave no room for the back seat passengers. Im 6 foot tall.

I choose the DoubleCab so that I can carry more the one passenger. I has plenty of room for 5 people. The front leg room needs improvement. The ride is bumpy. I took a trip to Laughlin, NV, and it was a nice ride and good gas milage.

I had 91 Nissan 4x4 that just rusted away The V6 was very thirsty and in town 4x4 driving was in minutes of driving not mpg. I needed an economical replacement with an xtra cab. A replacement 4x4 4 cyl was ~ $8000 more (Canadian) So my next choice was the pre runner 2.7 l having the same horse power as my Nissan V6 and better mpg. Would definitely recommend the 2.7 l if you want a 4 cylinder truck to boot around town cheaply. Reliability of Ford/Mazda was worrysome. Nissan was better equiped but 6.9%

i have had the vehicle for about a month now. i bought it used from carmax with 20k miles on it one owner. so far i really like the truck. it rides way better than my 2004 Dakota and the safety features are a real plus. i have dogs so i really like the back up camera feature. i think the brakes are very responsive and the seats feel really nice on a long trip!! the 4.0 V-6 is strong and will set you back in your seat if you punch it. the controls are all laid out well and i love the steering wheel radio controls. what is to be seen is the reliability??? i like to keep my vehicles for well over 200k so i will get back@ say 50k!!

  • Tacoaide, ordered Redbullll, got Lemonaide - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Should have told insurance company that it is garaged at the dealership. 35+ days in the shop after 90 days of ownership. Slipping of transmission, over temp oil light, alignment issues, broken driveshaft, seized brakes, ABS failure, seatbelts dont extend on any slope, obscene tire wear, preproduction components, cracked frame welds, used spare tires, and missing/poor paint are "acceptable" according to Toyotas field service tech. Toyota doesnt want to address the California Lemon Law regarding 30 days put of service Quality has placed well below profits and gimmicky electronic systems. After selling Toyotas I feel guilty for misleading customers and lying about the product being the best in the industry.

  • Awesome Truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

This is my 5th truck and I couldnt be happier with the vehicle. The wider body, fuel economy, and tow capacity make it an excellent compromise to a full size pickup. It offers all of the creature comforts and handles like a car in town. The TRD package with locking differential make it a capable off road vehicle. Performance is surprisingly strong even at altitudes above 10,000 feet.

Purchased a 2003 Toyota SR5 Ext Cab.auto,PS,Air, Cruise Control. very satisfied with performance of vehicle. All vehicles are not up to the standards of the durability ofToyota........However, is the vehicle worth the hassel of being wary of salesmen/admin pushing to get as much money as they can?

Previous vehicle was an 89 Toyota pickup. Hoping the new Tacoma will be as reliable. After 3 or 4 hours on the road, the firm seats get slightly uncomfortable and 19MPG is lower than Im used to but it was expected. The ride (on and off road) is great even with the TRD package. Acceleration is OK. Recommend DrawTie hitch receiver and Line-X bed liner. Have towed light loads so far with no problems. Hope to enjoy it for 10+ years.

This is a great little truck. I included the SR5 package and upgrade wheels... looks really sharp and rides very comfortable. So far, the only thing I have hauled in it is air. Quality, design and workmanship are all very good.
