Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.
Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

Bent tow hitch chain loop hole easily - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
By chrisjan - July 1 - 3:10 pmMy safety chain loop hole on the receiver hitch got bent pretty easy. Dealer Karl Malone Toyota, said warranty is not included. So do not trust Toyotas tow package the safety loop is a flimsy design. My seat belt light comes up and beeps heavily, even if I have my seat belt on two times already. I need to go back and have this fixed. Have a hard time keeping up with 80mph Utah freeway speeds... it is comfortable at 65mph though.

Fun truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By happy camper - June 28 - 10:26 pmI have owned every make of truck, and this Tacoma is the best truck by far. I drive a lot of freeway miles, the ride and handling is perfect. I will never own anything else but Toyota.

True Truck - 2001 Toyota Tacoma
By Black T - June 23 - 2:00 amI wanted to trade my 2000 4 door VW Golf for something tougher. I got the same interior room plus rugged non-unibody construction, 4WD, awesome ground clearance, a huge "trunk", and much improved reliability. I lost the cars smooth ride, handling and on road performance, but I think this is a truck that I will have for a long time, hopefully forever.

By Gasman - June 23 - 2:00 amThe 2004 Tacoma V6 XTRA is confortable and roomy. It has easy to access features and storage. I have had no problems with it and bought a Toyota for that reason.

A Little Disappointed - 2009 Toyota Tacoma
By Maryland Mike - June 22 - 9:46 pmI bought the truck for home improvements and for utility reasons. I had a 4Runner before this and was a fan of Toyota. I love the 4Dr long bed and couldnt be happier with overall design and function. I love the fold down back seats and tie downs in the bed. I had trouble with passenger side window sometimes doesnt go down without driver first using driver side switch. Passenger side speaker seems blown out from the start. Transmission hunts after slowing to make a turn. Wiper speed switch seems to be reversed compared to old 4Runner, meaning what should be longer time between wipes is actually shorter time. That combined with passenger window issue makes me think wiring problems.

Attention to Detail...I love my Tacoma - 2004 Toyota Tacoma
By Chuckykhan - June 18 - 10:00 amThis truck is jun to drive. V6 provides plenty of power. I dont see why anyone would need this vehicle with 4WD unless you plan on driving up a rock hewn canyon. RWD is the best value and this truck will pull 6000lbs!!! Mine came with the deluxe tow hitch. This is my second Toyota in 8 months. I now own a 2004 Sienna and a 2004 Tacoma. Same color. Toyota is the best and most reliable. Hands down.

Perfect Truck - 2010 Toyota Tacoma
By SOHAIL - June 16 - 11:26 amIve had this truck some 1 week now and Ive been driving around to get used to is. This is my first truck. I love the quality interior and how quiet this truck is. My truck is TRD off road package and there are tons of offroad features in this package. Everyone keeps telling me how reliable Toyotas are. So far I have good experience with this.

Very Uncomfortable II - 2010 Toyota Tacoma
By Sadly Dissapointed - June 4 - 8:30 pmBought the TRD Off Road package: very sharp looking truck. Great ride, great features except for the seating. The seats sit very low and are extremely uncomfortable. I test drove the truck 4 times and the seating issue was not noticeable on short rides. Any ride over 20 min however, was another story: could never get comfortable. Took the loss and traded for a Silverado LTZ after only 6 weeks.
