  • Great Buy... - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

This is my 4th Toyota, and 2nd Toyota truck. The ride is comfortable like an F150, but with better build quality. Rides nice & high, similar to a medium to full size truck. Excellent interior design and ergo. Bold exterior looks. The auto trans searches for gears at low speeds (not too noticeable), but the gas mileage has been predictable - 20mpg combined city/hwy. Plenty of power in the 236hp V6. Lots of leg room in the front & not bad in the back. Lots of great standard features on the SR5 pckg. Overall, this truck is worth the money... and I expect the same great quality that Ive gotten in the past from my other Toyotas. Im a satisfied buyer!

  • Expected better - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I got out of a big truck (Titan) and into a little truck (Tacoma) to better fit into my garage. What a mistake. It turned out to be one of the most uncomfortable vehicles I have ever owned. The drivers seat was like sitting in a hammock with my rear end sitting in a depression and my thighs being elevated. Not good for extended drives. The back seat was not overly comfortable according to my wife. Fuel economy was not impressive, 17.5-18 mpg. Paint started out looking really nice, but ended up being very susceptible to chips and scratches. The steering was very vague, with very little road feel, and tended to wander. Soft suspension with any kind of a load. Lots of road noise.

  • Big disappointment - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Bought my dream truck 3 weeks ago but it has been nothing like a dream but a disappointment. Engine constantly knocks and the knocking stops only when I remove my right foot from the gas pedal or when going downhill. I also hear an unusual noise coming from the engine room during warm-ups and for the first few miles. Its a growling noise and sounds like something loose tapping. A local dealer says its a normal sounding engine without driving it and cars are supposed to emit a lot of noises during its break-in period. My car is only 500 miles old and Im planning to take it back to the dealer if the noises continue when break-in period is over. Toyota is helping to solve the issue.

  • A champ on the road! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

The Tacoma certianly has one of the hottest body styles of any truck in its class. The satisfaction continues with the interior comfort and style. The engine is tight with excellent performance. There is some concern over gas mileage. This con it should be noted was known at the time of purchase and todays gas prices. The bed liner and compartments are the envy of all who see the truck.

  • Very Nice truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I have just bought my vehicle, so I do not have too much to base my decision on, but so far so great! I love the looks mostly of the vehicle, but the feel and drive of the truck is like no other. Handles extremely well, has a smooth almost car like ride, but still lets you know you are driving a TRUCK. Cant wait to try the 4x4 out.

When I first saw this truck last year, I told my wife thats the Truck for me. 4 Door, Double Cab, Long Bed with a Hood Scoop even (TRD Sport Package). Beautiful Body style (Hardbody & Tuff) and of couse its a freakin Toyota (Bulletproof) Man! And it came in my Favorite Color: Dark (Indigo) Blue! It just needs to be Raised (at least 6") w/35" Tires (Suspesion lift & Wheels & Tires on Order), Put on Cold Air Intake Throttle Body Spacer, Tornado, JBA Headers, TRD Exhaust w/MangnaFlow Muffler, UniChip Computer Chip, GPS/CD & 8 Disc Changer System, DVD Headrest system and a Sunroof. Made it my Own!

  • Another Typical Toyota - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I have owned a number of Toyota pickups in my life, and this one is typical... thats a good thing. The new 06 Tacoma base is a strong runner, lots of low end torque, and when the rpms go up, it really pulls hard. The 2.7 is so much stronger than the 2.4 liter, and the good thing is that the fuel mileage is about the same... what a deal! Interior is much more comfortable, even with the bench seat. It actually has side bolsters that hold the passengers from sliding around hard corners. The dash now has a full set of nicely appointed guages. Hey, there is no need for a bed liner since the composite bed takes care of that. Yep, another typical Toyota, high quality, great performance and price.

This thing is sweet. Drives like a car, power in all realms of the motor, low end torque, high end horsepower. What a pleasure to drive on a daily basis. The transmission, however is a little clumsy. No need to worry about the composite bed, either. Ive thrown some pretty heavy items at with no remorse. and to true Toyota standards... took a beating and begged for more.

  • Tacoma - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

This is my first truck and I love it. The truck is strong and looks nice. I have over 1200 miles and no problems so far. The ride height is high, though feels bumpy at times. Gas is good but doesn’t match advertised mileage so far. All my friends dig it, they all want to drive it, haha. Overall runs smooth, except in stop and go traffic, automatic is kinda shifty.

  • Smooth Runner But Very Uncomfortable - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

The Tacoma is very quiet and smooth. Comfortable ride but sloppy handling. Very little brake feel. The base model seats are absolutely miserable. The seat belt receptacles are too far over causing them to rub on my hip (I actually paid an upholstery shop to move the driver side over!). Im a thin person, if you are heavy or wide you simply wont fit. The steering wheel does not telescope out far enough forcing you into an uncomfortable driving position. I have owned it 4 months and Im already looking to trade it off because I just cant get comfortable in the thing. Too bad, too, because it seems well built otherwise.
