Model Overview:

Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.

Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

  • Reliable workhorse - 2000 Toyota Tacoma

Vehicle has never left me stranded and that is what I expect when I buy Toyotas. Still holding together great, no rattles and this truck is used "like a truck". No problems pulling a 20 fiberglass boat and handles commuting chores with ease. Comfortable ride.

  • If I had to do over, I would - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

This is the first truck that Ive even owned and I love it. Father had a 87 with over 300K and I got tired of borrowing it. (excuse I gave the wife) Saw the 4 door and fell in love. Last one on the lot, test drove it, came back and asked where do I sign.

  • Couldnt be much better - 2000 Toyota Tacoma

This is an excellent truck for daily driving, and has plenty more to offer for the adventuresome folks in the crowd. I use my truck to travel across the nation, and around town. Ive only had to keep up with routine checkups, but no other notable problems... Highly Satisfied!

This is one tuff little truck pulled 240-z from durango to houston with this little 4 banger and it never missed a beat. Great big brakes

  • Great Truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4 dr access cab in 12/06. I was a faithful Ford Ranger owner prior to the Tacoma. I had a 97 Ranger until 4/06 and then purchased a 2006 Ranger. I was not pleased with the 06 Ranger. I took a chance on a Toyora Tacoma. Really enjoy the quality and performance of this vehicle, especially compared to the 06 Ranger. There really is a dramatic difference in quality, interior features and smooth ride. The gas mileage on the Tacoma is not as good -about 21 city and 24 highway - but the superior quality makes up for it.

  • New Taco - 2009 Toyota Tacoma

The 09 is a great truck, lots of smooth power, good ride, bigger and more comfortable interior than my 97. Love the 4 doors (clamshell style). Happy with fuel economy overall, getting advertised numbers or a little better. Looked at 4cyl 5spd for better MPG but decided to go with V6 auto and no regrets. Stereo is OK for me, like the MP3 playback. Didnt get TRD, not worth the difference in price for me. Lots of new safety features on the 09 played a big part on my decision to go new. This is my 4th Toyota, 3rd truck and all have proven reliable so far. I loved my 97 taco but this truck is way better in many ways and Im sure we will have a long, happy life

  • Killer Truck - 2003 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

Just purchased my new truck, so far I love it. Took it on a lengthy road trip with 2 other adults, quite comfy for such an off road beast. Gas Mileage averages around 18.5. Cant wait to get it off road.

  • Outrageous windshield replacement - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

As in other reviews, the windshield spiders easily. The first hit made a small aggravating spider. The second small rock that hit far from the first made a tiny spot that at first was almost unnoticeable. It was quiescent for a few days then expanded to the whole windshield in the sun in one afternoon. Its $1200 or more to replace with the original. Turns out the old Tacoma windshields fit and are much, much, less expensive. The trucklet has only 11,000 miles.

  • Great, Dependable Vehicle - 2007 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I have owned my 2.7L Tacoma for a little over a year now. Not only does this truck get great gas mileage, but it can handle just about whatever you throw at it. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who needs a reliable, dependable vehicle that is capable as well.
