Severely dissappointed - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By dunwithtoyota - July 20 - 12:16 pmIve had my 2006 for 7 years now and until recently I loved it. Very reliable and very few problems (compared to the GMs I used to drive). However when I took it for the latest state inspection it wouldnt pass because the frame is rusting away. This problem now seems to be appearing on many 05 & 06 Tacomas. Both the dealer and I contacted Toyota separately concerning this. Toyotas response was basically too bad, now go away. Before this happened I was a big cheerleader for Toyota. Now, Ill never buy another Toyota again

Best small truck for the buck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By suisunian - September 22 - 4:20 amI have had this truck for 2 yrs. 24K, 20 mpg avg noted in past 40 fill ups. Narrow seats with center storage arm rest, rather it had a bench seat for big butts, brake/gas pedal too close togeather. driver arm rest door panel cracked, rear shocks leak. Wish it had a long bed.

I got what I bought - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By mrfinfish - April 28 - 11:06 amThis truck "is what it is"; an economical version of a small truck, very handy and economical around the suburbs and city driving. Principal reason for my buying this truck is that Im sick and tired of loosing $10,000+ a year in owing a Ford or Dodge $30,000 vehicle when purchased new. I bought this truck for a little over $16K; it gets 22 to 26 mpg; it is decidedably uncomfortable; its 2.7litter engine performance is acceptable, and one year after my purchase, Ive probably lost between $3 and $4,000, based on its current resale value. Do I wish I had a big truck with 4-wheel drive? Sure; but its a function of whether I want the cash in my pocket, or in the dealers pocket.

Beware of The Clunky , Rusty 2005-2011 Tacoma ! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Bill Robertson - March 21 - 8:20 pmWhile the engine is strong and the truck seems to hold up , the issues with cracking leaf springs and rusty frames makes me tell people to be very careful . My trucks leaf springs died at 67k miles and at the time Toyota had not recalled the nearly 700,000 tacomas ... Although I fixed it I am not getting reimbursement from Toyolet ,and they continue to cheat me and thousands of other customers . Google "Toyota rusty frames " or " Tacoma leaf springs failure " .. While the trucks look butch they are weak and the customer service is an abomination ... Beware of the last generation Junk Tacomas from Toyolet , not worth the money or the hassles .. Buy a real truck .

Smooth Runner But Very Uncomfortable - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Tim - September 20 - 7:43 amThe Tacoma is very quiet and smooth. Comfortable ride but sloppy handling. Very little brake feel. The base model seats are absolutely miserable. The seat belt receptacles are too far over causing them to rub on my hip (I actually paid an upholstery shop to move the driver side over!). Im a thin person, if you are heavy or wide you simply wont fit. The steering wheel does not telescope out far enough forcing you into an uncomfortable driving position. I have owned it 4 months and Im already looking to trade it off because I just cant get comfortable in the thing. Too bad, too, because it seems well built otherwise.
