Model Overview:

Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.

Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

I love everything about this truck. The v6 is a great engine has plenty of torque, and I am getting 20mpg combined w/ mobil 1 in the crank. The ride is good even w/the TRD sport susp. I think the long W/B helps. I have 9k on it and it has not been back to dealer yet. I get compliments everywhere I go. It is a fun truck to drive.

I am a casual truck user, meaning I do haul trailers, dirt bikes, quads, mulch, and the occasional camper. It stands up to every task I ask of it, and it takes me to and from work daily as well. The camper shell on the back smoothes out the truck feel of the empty bed. Its just enough weight to make it go down the road very comfortably full or empty.

Vehicle gave adequate warning when something needed repair. Do not like belt drive for camshafts and water pump. Both require replacement at 60000 miles.

I Just traded a tundra w/trd for this 03toyota dbl cab w/trd and i am very very satisfied with truck. It fits me and my family better than the tundra did the only thing i am missing is the v8 power and i think tacoma needs more available options like homelink and over head console with temp and compass. But i still love it w/out the features..

  • I love what you do for me Toyota. - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

What a sweet deal for a sweet ride. I mean it drives a lot better than the previous tacoma, longer, wider, taller, roomier, more powerful for just about the same price. Has more features and much more fun to drive thanks to the more powerful powerplant and 5 speed transmission.

  • Great first truck - 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Compared to the 2012 Ford Focus SEL, decked out in leather etc, I traded in, I find this truck (2015 TRD Sport, double cab) much more comfortable and has a much less "plasticy" interior that the so-called upscale Focus. Everything appears extremely solid, down to the turn signal stick. Plus, coming from a small car, I dont get Edmunds "weakness" of low-mounted seats - these seat are mounted higher/less reclined than Focus, or our 2012 Honda CRV. The engine can get a little noisy when pushed, but no worse than any other car Ive driven. More room for carseats in the backseat too than the Focus. Overall wind and tire noise are surprisingly subdued. A very nice ride!

  • Worth a good look - 2007 Toyota Tacoma

I purchased a new new Tacoma PreRunner after testing a 2006 Tundra. I was pleasantly impressed with the Tacoma styling and the handling, particularly when compared to its big brother. My only disappointment (and it is minor at this time) is the mileage of the automatic being rated at 6 miles/gallon on the highway less than the 5 speed standard Tacoma version.

Bought my 2011 sr5 about a month ago. Did lots of previous research prior to buying it, fuel, reliability, pricing, etc. Month later, cant say enough of the Tacoma. Great mid size truck that stands up to all others with good gas mpg. Would highly recommend the Tacoma if your looking for a dependable mid size truck that delivers good fuel and pulling power for weekenders.

If your looking for a midsize truck with selective features then the Toyota Tacoma is your truck. with 245 horsepower under hood the Tacoma will let you do a number of things such as go up a steep cliff, or tow a 6500 pound boat the Tacoma stands in your path. Weather its for fun or work. The Tacoma assures years and years of great performance. Also with 18 different styles and 9 colors one is bound to suit you. If I had to choose a midsize truck the Tacoma would honorably be my first choice.

Ive been driving both ford and chevy trucks and both have been ok except for gas mileage. So I decided to look at a new toyota tacoma and went for a test drive. The vehicle handed well with plenty of acceleration, has 4liter v6.And plenty options. So I purchased the vehicle the price was equal to both ford and chevy. So not long after the purchase we put the little truck on the highway, for 2500 hundred miles pulling an 18 foot travel trailer. This was an excellent trip, the vehicle was great ,no problems, flat land, hills ,mountains just great. The fuel economy was good I didnt expect it to be,but it was good. Im very pleased.
