Overview & Reviews
Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.
Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

I Made A Great Choice! - 2009 Toyota Tacoma
By Steve - April 24 - 6:50 amI made a great choice in purchasing the Toyota Tacoma. In the past 7 months I can report no major problems. Besides the less then impressive gas mileage the only problem I had was erratic down & up shifting problems. The transmission was not down shifting or up shifting smoothly at slower speeds and corners. I took the Tacoma back to the dealer and they did an “ECU Calibration” update to the computer. Since the update to the computer, I have not had the erratic shifting problems. The V6 power is there when you need it, and it handles just fine. The ride is a truck, I expected that. It’s a fun truck to drive!

Great Truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By michael H. Schneider - April 22 - 9:46 amI saw a picture and description of the X-Runner in Car & Driver magazine. I liked what I saw - a sharp looking, performance oriented truck with a sports car handling package and a 6-speed manual transmission with ground effects to round out the package. All this and Toyota quality. Also, the interior is excellent including controls, gauges and comfort. Seats are great, stereo system excellent as well. Exterior fit and finish (desert sand pearl) are of the best quality I have seen. Before I purchased this truck I questioned quite a few Tacoma owners and all had positive comments. Thanks for a great truck

Wasent Looking - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By Diana - April 21 - 8:16 pmI wasent considering this truck until I drove it. I must confess my narrowness of mind while shopping and only looking at the full size trucks. I love this truck and I would purchase another one without hesitation. It also fits into my garage easier than the big trucks which was a safety/security concern for me.

A Womans Opinion - 2007 Toyota Tacoma
By LtH - April 19 - 5:43 pmIm very satisfied with the Taco, lives up to the reviews, and would buy it all over again. The visibility is great, and 5 adults fit comfortably. It feels solid, and handles well both on streets & freeways. My goals were to get a vehicle with better than average reliability that rode a little higher off the ground and the Taco fit the bill as a great investment. Im a happy first time Toyota owner & first time truck owner.

Worth the Money, buy one you wont regre - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By Phoenian - April 17 - 10:06 pmSuper truck on all levels. Design, fit, finish and materials are at luxury car levels. Researched all compareable trucks in detail and the Tacoma excells in every catagory. I dont have many miles on it yet, but the comfort factor along with the driving enjoyment justify the purchase. I love it and it appears that most other motorist do as well.

By ontario102 - April 17 - 2:00 amMy last 4 vehicles have been Toyos for good reason. These are the BEST, esp. when a truck like the Tacoma is compaired with the Nissan.

Really Fun Pickup - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By R. Jones - April 17 - 12:26 amHave had the truck for three months. Great handling truck on mountain roads. Great sense of stability. Plenty of power to pass when there is little room in which to pass. Great rear seat accomodation for grandchildren.

i love my SCARLET! - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By Gina - April 14 - 11:16 pmOverall, the driving is spectacular. its very comfortable and easy to drive, which was unexpected because im a girl. It was a little scary turning the corners because its a tall vehicle compared to the small car i was driving before, but i just need to remember to not drive too fast and to turn the corners softer. the fuel lasts longer than most other trucks do, but maybe thats because its a bit smaller than the other larger trucks out on the market.

Good Truck - 2010 Toyota Tacoma
By Dustyrider - April 14 - 2:30 pmTraded a 2009 Toyota reg cab 4 cyl automatic for this truck. Pulled a motorcycle on a trailer 1000 miles and decided I needed the 6 cyl auto instead. This new truck is much nicer and better equipped than the 09. The fuel economy is not what I expected (17 MPG so far), but it may get better as it breaks in. The cab is nosier on the access cab than the reg cab was, probably the extra doors. The Prerunner package makes it sit about 3 or 4 inches higher than the 09, and I feel that the seat will wear quicker from getting in and out. I like the buckets and the rest of the interior features better than the base truck, and hope the mileage improves as it gets some miles on it.
