Overview & Reviews
Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.
Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

Love the Limited - 2004 Toyota Tacoma
By Carolyn Luna - March 19 - 2:00 amI love my 4x4. We bought the 4x4 and the stock 2x2 2004 Tacomas. The Limited package added the luxury I was looking for in a vehicle I love to drive it.

Great offroad, harsh ride - 2004 Toyota Tacoma
By Citrus man - March 19 - 2:00 amI now have 50000 miles on my Tacoma. During the fist couple of months I really liked this truck. But, then I started realizing how it will beat you do death off road, and after a long road trip your back will beg for mercy. Overall, its fun to drive and is great off road. However, its stiff ride and plywood type seats make it a very ucomfortable truck to drive.

Bulletproof - 2001 Toyota Tacoma
By Philodog - March 11 - 11:20 pm173,000 miles and still runs like new. It has the TRD package and gets used hard off road on a regular basis. Besides regular maintenance the only issues have been an O2 sensor, catalytic converter and a drive shaft center bearing. Still gets 18-20 on the highway. Stiff ride but it`s a real truck.

The best V6 truck of its type - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By ejerdak - March 10 - 12:16 amThis is my first Toyota purchase. I never seen such quality interior and exterior even on Luxury vehicles. I got the TRD Sports package with 17" wheels.

Good reliable lightweight hauler - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Alex - March 9 - 11:40 pmMy 92 truck was maintenance free for 175,000 miles except for a radiator replacement. My 06 is nice to drive and has so far been reliable with 30,000 miles on it. I have had problems with my clutch squeaking, not a maintenance issue, but horribly annoying all the same. I will be taking it in again for another clutch repair. It is still under warranty. The annoying part is that I will have to deal with this again in the future when it is not under warranty. The 4 cylinder manual is peppy and responsive. I like the good gas mileage for a truck this size. Watch out for the sliding rear window. I accidentally broke mine and it was going to cost over $800 to replace, a major Toyota ripoff. Mine now has plexiglass, a total repair cost of $15.

Recommend to Anyone - 2001 Toyota Tacoma
By kinnywayne - March 9 - 10:00 amVery happy with my purchase. Bought it used. Took it to the Outer Banks, NC and rolled all over the beach. 4WD and power through the sand very surprising, considering I bought the 4 cyl. Good size and easy to park unlike some of the other trucks in its class (not real bulky but still rugged looking.) Would definitley recommend this vehicle to everyone.

After 10,000 miles - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By hunkele3 - March 5 - 2:00 amStill a great truck! Performance, reliability, and looks are awesome. Only complaints are annoying dashboard rattles and cheap plastic interior. My small dogs (and I) scratch the vinyl/plastic in the interior. My wifes Blazers interior is more resilient! Also ,as others have stated, clock is in stupid place. Its great in the snow, and handles like a small car. Still the best compact truck out there! Definitely worth the extra price.
