Great Buy... - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By mshw777 - January 27 - 1:16 amThis is my 4th Toyota, and 2nd Toyota truck. The ride is comfortable like an F150, but with better build quality. Rides nice & high, similar to a medium to full size truck. Excellent interior design and ergo. Bold exterior looks. The auto trans searches for gears at low speeds (not too noticeable), but the gas mileage has been predictable - 20mpg combined city/hwy. Plenty of power in the 236hp V6. Lots of leg room in the front & not bad in the back. Lots of great standard features on the SR5 pckg. Overall, this truck is worth the money... and I expect the same great quality that Ive gotten in the past from my other Toyotas. Im a satisfied buyer!

A champ on the road! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By M Haddad - December 14 - 2:06 pmThe Tacoma certianly has one of the hottest body styles of any truck in its class. The satisfaction continues with the interior comfort and style. The engine is tight with excellent performance. There is some concern over gas mileage. This con it should be noted was known at the time of purchase and todays gas prices. The bed liner and compartments are the envy of all who see the truck.

Very Nice truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By ToyTaco23 - November 14 - 7:06 amI have just bought my vehicle, so I do not have too much to base my decision on, but so far so great! I love the looks mostly of the vehicle, but the feel and drive of the truck is like no other. Handles extremely well, has a smooth almost car like ride, but still lets you know you are driving a TRUCK. Cant wait to try the 4x4 out.

By Gary (GEE) Duenas - November 1 - 9:10 amWhen I first saw this truck last year, I told my wife thats the Truck for me. 4 Door, Double Cab, Long Bed with a Hood Scoop even (TRD Sport Package). Beautiful Body style (Hardbody & Tuff) and of couse its a freakin Toyota (Bulletproof) Man! And it came in my Favorite Color: Dark (Indigo) Blue! It just needs to be Raised (at least 6") w/35" Tires (Suspesion lift & Wheels & Tires on Order), Put on Cold Air Intake Throttle Body Spacer, Tornado, JBA Headers, TRD Exhaust w/MangnaFlow Muffler, UniChip Computer Chip, GPS/CD & 8 Disc Changer System, DVD Headrest system and a Sunroof. Made it my Own!

Another Typical Toyota - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Pete - October 16 - 9:33 amI have owned a number of Toyota pickups in my life, and this one is typical... thats a good thing. The new 06 Tacoma base is a strong runner, lots of low end torque, and when the rpms go up, it really pulls hard. The 2.7 is so much stronger than the 2.4 liter, and the good thing is that the fuel mileage is about the same... what a deal! Interior is much more comfortable, even with the bench seat. It actually has side bolsters that hold the passengers from sliding around hard corners. The dash now has a full set of nicely appointed guages. Hey, there is no need for a bed liner since the composite bed takes care of that. Yep, another typical Toyota, high quality, great performance and price.

Tacoma - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By TACOMA - September 24 - 7:33 amThis is my first truck and I love it. The truck is strong and looks nice. I have over 1200 miles and no problems so far. The ride height is high, though feels bumpy at times. Gas is good but doesnt match advertised mileage so far. All my friends dig it, they all want to drive it, haha. Overall runs smooth, except in stop and go traffic, automatic is kinda shifty.

Overall a great truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Den - September 19 - 4:23 pmThis is the 2nd pre-runner Ive owned in the past 5 years (4 Toyotas altogether). Overall, quality is great-what you expect from this company. I bought it for my wife but she liked my 04 V8 4Runner more.

F150 to Tacoma - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Dave L - September 9 - 9:10 amFinally got a truck worth writing about. Downsized from the Ford F150 Lariat with the 5.4 liter gas guzzling engine. I did not lose any comfort in the downsize and gained excellent gas mileage. Got 18 MPG on the first tank and 20 MPG the second tank and that included pulling my bass boat. The 4.0 V6 is a stong engine and the ride is just as comfortable as my F150 Lariat. Transmission and Tow package handled pulling my bass boat with ease. Drove through some pretty tough spots while deer hunting w/o four wheel drive and didnt get stuck. I plan to add the bilstein shocks myself for off road use. Dont have one regret in making the switch.

Overall incredible truck. - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By zacattack1 - September 7 - 2:36 amBeen driving full side trucks all of my life. Chevy 1500, 06 Tundra. I have a 06 prerunner sr5 5 manual, and have to say it is a 10 in every department. And the 2.7L is a top end engine. And at times it feels like a race truck. The whole truck is strong, tight, and fast. It does 80 on the highway at 1/4 throttle with ease. And with its short wheel base. The city and freeway ride, is the best and smoothest. First gear is very short, but once you start shifting through the gears. The top end engine hits, and the truck just pulls and pulls.

SUV in truck body... - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Stavro - August 30 - 11:33 pmAfter spending endless hours on Edmunds, I decided to pull the trigger. Traded a 01 BMW X5 with 52K miles and 11 pages of maintenance records. What a relief! The Tacomas interior is big, got the 4x2 sport pack with JBL audio and tow. If you dont need 4x4 why haul the extra weight around? First tank of gas gave me 19 mpg (87 RON per manual)combined. Feels solid, seats have good support, plenty of space in the rear, good visibility, suspension is on the spot, not too soft, not too hard, gearbox is smooth (A/T) as far as performance, I only have 220 miles but I can tell you this: 65mph with 1450 rpm is sweet!
