Overview & Reviews
Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.
Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

2010 Tacoma - 2010 Toyota Tacoma
By Don - February 11 - 1:00 pmI purchased my new Tacoma with high hopes that it would match up to my old 1992 SR5 Toyota truck. I am very disappointed to say that it does not. The steering wheel does not angle high enough to get out of the way of my knee when I shift. Come-on Toyota. The center console storage compartment should lift back, not to the side. I already had to replace my passenger side seat belt because it was torn. The gas mileage is horrible for a manual,(15-16). The engine is loud above 2300 rpm. The engine does not throttle down fast enough when you shift so you get this horrible whining each time you shift gears. I had much more storage in the cab with my 1992 Toyota. 250K with this truck. Not a chance

2006 Prerunner, V6, Access cab, 5A - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Lou - February 10 - 5:10 amHighway and in town driving produces same MPG, around 20. No problems in 8,550 miles. Nice around town truck with ample power. Not suited for long trips or in windy conditions. Draws favorable comments and has high resale value. Very well could be best mid size truck on the market.

Exceeds expectations - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By MOMAN - February 7 - 6:26 amPurchased Tacoma 2WD 4 cylinder access cab in April. I like driving it as well as my 05 Solara XLE. Power acceptable, comfortable and fun to drive. With less than 2,000 miles on odometer, consistently getting 25+ MPG. Quality of interior is exceptional. Traded in a 2003 Dakota with 17,000 miles. No comparison between the two vehicles. Access cab doors are great! Sound system rivals the Solara sound system. Seating is very comfortable for the "long drive." If you want luxury, economy, convenience, utility, comfort, and safety; this is your truck.

Best Truck on the Market - 1999 Toyota Tacoma
By redstar24 - February 5 - 10:00 amGreat truck, I havent put any money into since Ive owned it, other than oil changes. I have it serviced by Waite Toyota in Watertown, NY. Unbelieveable service Dept., I think finding a dealer like this makes owning a Toyota the please that it is. Ive averaged 22 MPG with this truck, which is good considering I have 265/75-15s for tires.

Tacoma - Good Solid Truck - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
By Hundarion - February 5 - 10:00 amI purchased this vehicle to do general type hauling on the weekends for gardening & home improvement work. This vehicle is well suited for these tasks. I appreciate the fine lines on the body of this truck, especially the front end. I test drove several other compact trucks and felt the tacoma gave the best ride. The truck handles well with adequate power for a 4 cylinder. I do experience the whistle in my A/C that some other reviewers have complained about but no other complaints. This is the 3rd Toyota vehicle I have owned and I hope my Tacoma provides the same reliability and problem free performance as my previous two vehicles.

Shame on the Dealer - 2003 Toyota Tacoma
By Las Vegas Dennis - February 5 - 10:00 amIm very pleased with my "new" Tacoma truck. It had 710 miles and was represented as new. It was delivered dirty, after I asked to have it cleaned pryor to purchasing. The salesman was short with me at times, and the service department was worse. Several people in service were nice, but a few made uncalled for comment. Good Truck bad people.

Love My Baby - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
By Terri - February 4 - 7:16 pmI have dreamed about owning a Toy Truck since 1985 when Back To The Future came out. My parents got one back in the early 90s and I was insanely jealous and so when I totaled my car I got another car but my heart was set on the truck so I said I only have this one life so I broke down and bought it. I love how I feel when Im driving and I get so many compliments on it and her name is Bagheera. She is a dream come true and I have never been happier.
