FINALLY - A GREAT TRUCK - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Jack Germain - February 20 - 3:36 pmIn Feb 2006 I bought the Toyota access cab 2 wheel drive 2.7 with auto tranny. After three months of owning a "want to be truck" I went back to the dealer and got a 4x4 with the V6. Finally got a truck. Plenty of power, almost the same MPG, and the suspension is a ton better. It also looks a whole lot better because of the added height. Learn from my mistake, dont go for the 2 wheel drive version. Youll end up kicking yourself.

Disappointed in New Toyota - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Dave - February 19 - 5:30 amToyota is selling new trucks on the the reputation built on earlier very good trucks. I owned a 1993 DX extra Cab and which was a bullet proof, high quality, wonderful vehicle. It was very tough, well built and solid... used as a truck... no rattles after 13 years of hard work. My 2006 (1,500 miles) is cheaply built, value engineered to minimal truck standards and will not take truck like use. It shakes, rattles and rumbles. The frame is not stiff enough (open channel) and the dam truck wanders all over the road. It came with cheap Dunlop tires andis mostly plastic. Use like my old Toyota will quickly destroy this truck. So in short - I spent $31K on a car like truck that is really a car.

2006 Prerunner, V6, Access cab, 5A - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Lou - February 10 - 5:10 amHighway and in town driving produces same MPG, around 20. No problems in 8,550 miles. Nice around town truck with ample power. Not suited for long trips or in windy conditions. Draws favorable comments and has high resale value. Very well could be best mid size truck on the market.

Tacoma Access Cab SR5 2.7L 4 cylinder, automatic - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Terry - January 24 - 3:32 am2006 Tacoma Access Cab SR5 2.7L automatic tranny. Mine is used for light hauling and trailering my 16 foot Boston Whaler boat. It trailers the boat just fine . It launches and pulls the boat up the boat ramps with ease. I added the bolt on trailer receiver right to the bumper in the supplied holes and added the plug and play trailer light kit. Love this truck. I only wish that it had aux jack for the stereo( iPhone connect). It is too old to have Bluetooth ( even better). The other stereo issue is that FM/AM radio mode doesnt show text( ie- song name, artist) CD mode does. Great value and plenty of power from the 2.7L four banger. Plan to keep it a long time. Currently has 57000 miles. Only repair was battery replaced. I installed red top Optima( should last a while in this South Florida heat).

06 Tacoma - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By dws246 - January 23 - 3:03 amWhen I first bought the truck I loved it, it was great and just what I wanted. However after about 5k I started to get a bad clutch chatter like you are about to stall only worse. I brought that to the dealers attention, said it was normal. I have been driving stick shift for a while and that is not normal, even after giving it lots of gas the chatter would still happen. The worst part of the whole thing is that at 26k the clutch blew, I had to have it towed to the dealer where they said it was not covered by the warranty and I would have to pay $1400 to fix it-everything was bad in the clutch, even the springs were broken which they said was because I was a bad driver.

4X4 Beast reliable fun safe! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Jesus saves - December 11 - 10:00 amThe only bad thing about my truck is the poor fuel economy. I get about 19 mpg. Other than that its a beast. Back seat fits adults just fine. I have pulled out several lifter 4x4 diesel trucks out of the mud, snow, and sand. Pulls loads great. 4X4 like no other and it soaks up the bumps great!

Tacoma - all the way - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Bob - September 27 - 2:56 pmI have had this vehicle now for almost 3 months. Love it to death. Had a slight mishap in an off-road extravaganza and messed my rim up. What should have been a bent control and tie rods ended up with just a mere alignment jar. Amazing vehicle inside and out. I get comments from people who drive the F150,250, Dodge 1500, 2500, and Chevy seirra, they all like the comfort of the front seats. Now let me talk about performance, the off-road package is the way to go. Bilstein shocks, and a built in engine braker in the transmission. Great control. Going around bends, this vehicle leans less then my previous 2WD tacoma that was base height, not nearly as high as this. WELL BUILT!

So Happy I Got The Toyota - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By mvought - September 19 - 6:23 pmFirst I have to say that this is the second Toyota truck Ive had, but the first was a 93 reg cab. This truck is a different animal all together. To start with, this beauty is as comfortable and nice inside as a luxury car. Soft seats hug you, smart gauges and dash layout are both functional and well thought out. From the outside its as inspiring. A much larger truck than my 93. Its nearly as large as the full size Chevy out in my parking lot. The v6 is quick, very quick. Handles like a dream. This truck just plain rocks. Just a great idea made into a great truck.
