Model Overview:

Since its introduction in 1995, the Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay of the compact and midsize pickup segments. The original Tacoma fell into the compact category, while the second-generation truck's 2005 debut marked the transition to midsize dimensions. Typical advantages to a new or used Tacoma include a variety of body styles to choose from, useful off-road abilities, strong resale value and a better than average reputation for reliability.

Downsides are few. Even when modestly appointed, this Toyota often costs more than competing trucks and prices are high on the used market as well. In addition, taller drivers might feel cramped inside the first-generation Tacoma's compact cab. Otherwise, the Toyota Tacoma is a very capable pickup that's highly recommended for nearly all truck shoppers.

  • 2001, another fine year for a Tacoma - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

I have had this Tacoma for almost a year, it is solid, so far I have noticed that rubber strips around the wheel wells are coming loose, other than that, the body has held up well.

  • Great Truck - 2005 Toyota Tacoma

My 05 Tacoma has been terrific so far. Its powerful, comfortable, quiet and extremely well built. Its the Lexus of mid-size trucks. The V6 Prerunner is very capable offroad in most cases and on road, its a joy. I have no problem or issue that require a return to the dealer. Its a good thing as the dealer experience was anything but pleasant. Luckily, Toyota engineered the V6 with the oil filter easily accessible on top of the engine so oil changes a breeze to do at home. Most of all, you cant go wrong with Toyota reliability and value.

  • Till the End - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

No matter what I throw at this truck, it gets the job done. Fits 5 people nicely, and you can still throw stuff in the bed. Although more pwr from the 4cyl would be nice, it still gets the job done. Mud, snow, sand, dirt, nothing can stop this truck. For the price you pay, you get one hell of a truck that can conquer anything. Pull, push, haul, it does it with reliability. From its great design to the ease of use in the cabin, this trucks a winner and I dont see myself getting rid of it.

  • Best money ever spent! - 1997 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I purchased my 1997 Toyota Tacoma LX V6 Extra Cab in 99 with 67,000 miles on it. Today, it has 272,000 miles. Ive only replaced the radiator, O2 sensor, a ball bearing joint, and the starter, as well as, the normal required maintenance such as timing belts. It is a true work horse, and a remarkable automobile for reliability and function considering the other vehicles Ive witnessed. Ive been offered by three different individuals on separate occasions to buy it from me. Its not going to happen.

  • DOUBLE CAB THE ULTIMATE 4X4 TOYOTA - 2004 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

This is my Third Toyota 4x4 Truck and our Fourth Toyota Vehicle. I previously owned a 1979 and a 1992 Toyota 4x4. The 2004 Toyota Double Cab has to be best one to date. We Mountain Bike, Ski, hit the Beaches and everything we need can be put in the truck bed and still leave plenty of room for the family to ride in the cabin with plenty of space. To us, it is the "Ultimate Vacation Vehicle" and my everyday driving vehicle. They simply build the best quality compact Trucks. True they are a little more expensive, but you cant put a price tag on the confidence a Toyota Truck gives you especially in Bad Weather.

  • Tacoma 2nd Week Still A Dream - 2005 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

Bought Tacoma w/TRD off road package 2 wks ago and am loving it. Warning - its a big truck. Wont fit in garage, even though I have the 2dr Access cab version. Parking brake takes getting used to (its an old-school pull type handle) but works just fine. Saw complaints on net about paint chipping on speedway blue, black and radiant red, but havent seen any on my silver truck.

  • Excellent Truck - 2002 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I had a Nissan truck for the last seven years and it was very good but this Toyota is great! I was concerned about the ablility to pull our 4,300 pound boat but it was no problem at all. I have owned several Toyota vehicles in the past and all provided years of trouble free service. Im expecting to keep this one for at least 8 years. Almost bought a Ranger since they had such a low price and rebates until I started talking to people that have owned them and saw the poor rating for Ranger four wheel drives in Consumer Reports. Glad I checked it out plus I have had very bad luck with Fords in general.

  • Awesome - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

1996 Toyota Tacoma bought with 30,000 miles and it runs like a top! I have put 140,000 on it since i have owned it, keep the oil changed regularly and the truck gives me no problems. It does great for climbing in 4 wheel drive and does great to and from work for gas mileage. GET A TOYOTA TACOMA!
