  • Tacoma and me - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

my d-cab has a real truck feel, I mean I can feel every bump in the road, my 4 year old daughter said one day, this is a bumpy car daddy, the trasmission takes a while to down shift when coming up to a stop sign then giving it gas right away there is a big hesitation, the bed is to small, could be a little longer, and my shifter and 4x4 shifters wonder all over the cab, real loose........my steering wheel came crooked.......but other than those problems it has been an awesome car...........

  • The best small truck - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

Its not a big truck, but its good for hauling furniture, lumber, mulch, and still have some comfort inside. So far, nothing other than regular service has been needed, other than tires. Theres room behind the seat for a fair bit of stuff, too. Theres even a locking ring for a car seat in the Xtra cab, but I dont know - it looks like that might be a tight fit.

I was very pleased the first 45000 miles .Now im getting a rattle in the dash and some squeaks in the seats and interior noise. This truck was a very tight truck when taking bumps and a pleasure to drive. Now the interior noise and rattle drives me crazy. Also this truck has never been off road wich makes me think what would it have been like if it did. This is a off road pkg.My wifes car has 205,000 on it and doesnt rattle and feels tighter. Not to mention it is a Volvo.

  • More than I ever expected! - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

Paid 13k cash for my loaded pickup, included custom snug-top w/ bed-rug 3k alone! Dropped 800 more into 60k factory service, and I could not be more satisfied! Purchased from an older guy who never took it off road. The int/ext is in perfect shape! I took it to vegas and made it with 1/4 tank left over! V6 is smooth and powerful: puts my honda and rangers of the past to shame! Int could be more user friendly...but IT IS A TRUCK! I recommend anyone who wants a reliable truck to buy this model, "THIRD PARTY", the dealer price is ludicrous, and just make sure its a sound buy, youll be glad you did!

I wanted to trade my 2000 4 door VW Golf for something tougher. I got the same interior room plus rugged non-unibody construction, 4WD, awesome ground clearance, a huge "trunk", and much improved reliability. I lost the cars smooth ride, handling and on road performance, but I think this is a truck that I will have for a long time, hopefully forever.

  • great safe car - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

husband totaled this truck one week ago, flipped in the air 2x and smashed it up front to back! Amazingly, he walked away from the site with only a cut on his finger and on his ear - we were amazed! We were very happy with the truck and hadnt had any problems until the wreck. The value of the vehicle held up well ( or insurance company very generous - whats the chance?). We are buying another just like it.

  • Good but not great - 2001 Toyota Tacoma

First of all, let me say this has been a really good truck, so if this sounds like a negative review, these are relatively minor points. Gas mileage has been a disappointment for a V6: 15- 17 combined city/highway. I have a bit of a lead foot, but still, when I see full-size Fords and Chevys advertising 20 mpg with V8s, I cringe. Also, not as sure-footed as Id like in snow and ice. Interior: The rubber inserts have all cracked and fallen out of the cup holders. And last, despite fastidious care, my rear chrome bumper has started to rust. Those negatives aside, this truck has gone all over with poise and confidence. Also, your pictures wrong; 2001 models had a different grille.
