  • a mans ride - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

if the worst thing i can say about my truck is that they put the clock in the wrong place. then it must be great. the thing that suprised me was how much room it has. i am a large person and i dont like to put a car or truck on like a pair of pants. if you like the convience of a truck and the ride of a car then check this one out. it truly is is a mans truck.

My main problem is being a large man, the passenger side room for the knees is poor. It is not comfortable to ride as a passenger, therefore i always drive long distances myself. The clock is hard to view from the drivers perspective. Otherwise, a great truck and no regrets on buying it except that I wish i would have waited one more year for the lower prices.

  • My 2nd yota - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

Decent power for a 4-banger, although I wish the V6 was offered at this trim level. Comfortable ride quality, superb ergonomics, solid build, and Toyota finally put some 15" rims on its 2WD trucks. Handles great with a load in the back, no noticeable change to braking characteristics. Transmission very solid, this thing feels like it could easily handle a V8. Second gear is way too high, especially compared to the fairly low-geared first. You can tell that the build quality is much cheaper on the 2002 compared to my 1986 yota, yet it is still very solid compared to anything else. Gas mileage a bit lower than expected, 21 mpg street, 23 mpg highway. Nice truck, worth the money.

  • great truck - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

This truck has a very smooth and stable ride for a 4x4 truck. The 3.4L V6 has plenty of power and has a quick throttle response. The 5 speed shifts smooth and tight. Overall I am very impressed with the quality and drivability of this truck, the best vehicle I have ever owned.

  • Hard to beat - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

I sat in all the available 4 door small pickups - both front AND back. Im 62 and the Toyota was the only one I was comfortable in. Ive since ridden long distances in the back with no problems. I could not bare the look of the Nissan truck - too much styling going on there. Ford SportTrac- theres something really wrong with the way that truck looks. Chevrolet -well its a GM. This was my first Toyota and foreign car purchase.

  • Overall best truck Ive had!!!!! - 2002 Toyota Tacoma

The 2.7 Liter could use some more power but the TRD supercharger, it feels like an 8 cyl. I also have a V-6 crew cab which it is really strong, powerful, and fast. Hoping to supercharge it soon!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this truck, medical problems dictate that I find something else for my use. The truck has been very good and dependable, I havent had any problems other than having to install a battery. I very much enjoyed driving this vehicle and as an old an auto mechanic repairing many different vehicles this Toyota comes highly recomended.

2.4 L not strong , mpg is only around 24 hwy/21 combined. cab is small/tight. overall durable, dependable & you cant really ever go wrong with a yota.

Still a great truck! Performance, reliability, and looks are awesome. Only complaints are annoying dashboard rattles and cheap plastic interior. My small dogs (and I) scratch the vinyl/plastic in the interior. My wifes Blazers interior is more resilient! Also ,as others have stated, clock is in stupid place. Its great in the snow, and handles like a small car. Still the best compact truck out there! Definitely worth the extra price.
