This Year's Model Updates:

Nothing major is in store for Toyota's minivan this year. The most significant change is the availability of a new "Symphony" special edition for LE models. This special edition includes items like keyless entry, a roof rack, captain's chairs for the first two rows (six-way power driver seat), a premium JBL audio system, power swing privacy glass, color-keyed heated power side mirrors, an overhead console with HomeLink and painted bumpers and cladding. There's also a new color this year exclusive to the Symphony: Lunar Mist Metallic. The base CE model's Extra Value package now includes a roof rack and keyless entry for no extra cost.

Pros:
  • Camry genes, excellent crash-test ratings, refined powertrain, optional stability control system, available side airbags.
Cons:
  • Dull styling, small size, lacks optimal utility.

I like my Sienna except for an occasional problem. When I go to put the van into Park, it sticks in Reverse. Since this is an occasional issue, I now leave my foot on the break until the van is turned off!!

I new Sienna CE in january, 2002. I never had a van before and my choice was based on reliability record of Toyota and high scores in crash test, and the fact that Sienna has "car like" ride. The van is built very solidly, ride is smooth and you feel enough power under the hood. Sometimes I forget I actually drive a van. So far I didnt have any problem, except that gas mileage really sucks, no matter I drive in town or on highway.

I was tired of wasting all my free time maintaining cars. This is the most uneventful car experience Ive ever had. The only things I do are oil changes and put gas in the thing! It handles like a cloud and behaves well (very car-like). Its so quiet, its almost scary! It is wonderful for longer trips. I researched vans for nearly a year before buying this one. Only the new Sienna could top it.

  • Watch-out for this! - 2002 Toyota Sienna

Watch out for 2002 Sienna models leaking water from the roof rack (sealant not applied to roof rack screws)into the interior. It will only be visable by wet carpet. And an aweful moldy musty smell.I have three different locations where the carpet got wet. My mechanic said he has treated others for same problem.

None, needed a van to transport kids since the 3d seat in the volvo wagon wasnt big enough anymore.

  • Old reliable - 2002 Toyota Sienna

A good old reliable piece of transportation. Only trouble have been with the electric windows up front-kind of spendy to fix. also the passenger doors keep sticking. Overall, at 90,000 an extremely reliable van-its a Toyota after all.

  • Reasons to stay with a Toyota. - 2002 Toyota Sienna

We have always owned Toyotas. We needed a mini-van with young children. We made a huge mistake - bought new Dodge Mini-van on impulse. Nothing but problems. We went to the Sienna and are very happy. The quality is unmatched in every category. We will never buy anything except Toyota again. Ride, resale, reliability can not be beat especially by a Dodge.

  • BRAKES SQUEAK - 2002 Toyota Sienna

I have had three Toyota cars before purchasing the Sienna van. I have never had a problem with any of the cars, so I expected the same with the Sienna. I like the van, except for the brakes. They squeak every time you stop. It is making me crazy. I am now shopping for a new van even though it is only two years old. I am not sure I will buy another Toyota. I am looking at the Honda vans/suvs.

As soon as I purchased the XLE, it wouldnt start, so Had to get a jump. Once I got home 3 Warning light were on. Took it back to dealership, they said the onboard computer was bad. The XLE sat on the Dearlership for a month before they could get the part from Japan. After 3000 miles, took it to Jiffy loob for Oil Change, he said to get rid of the car the engine will go bad due to oil sludge. Known problem on Toyota 3.0 v6 engines. Didnt belive him, until some research in the internet. Found USA Today article and others.
