Overview & Reviews
Like other minivans on the market, the 2001 Sienna can be equipped with an on-board entertainment system. Dual power-sliding doors are optional, and the safety-conscious will like the fact that side airbags and a stability control system are available. Sienna's smooth V6 makes more power and torque this year. A rear defroster is standard on all Siennas, while JBL audio, heated front seats and an electrochromic rearview mirror with integrated compass are optional on XLE models. Styling has been tweaked front and rear, four new colors replace four old colors and all Siennas come with a driver-side sliding door.
- Camry genes, excellent crash-test ratings, refined powertrain, optional stability control system, available side airbags.
- Dull styling, small size, lacks optimal utility.

Toyota Sienna 2001 - 2001 Toyota Sienna
By Ros123 - January 14 - 11:33 amThis car has been so reliable that I am constantly amazed. Once in a while, I take it in for an overall safety check and except for routine items that need changing in any vehicle, theres never anything wrong!

Going to trade it in - 2001 Toyota Sienna
By Rich Maloney - May 24 - 5:40 amElectrical system is a problem: passenger side window does not work. Started happening during warranty period, however, dealer, could not find problem existed. Now no longer works. Computer: Problem lights keeping coming on: low air for tire, engine problem, etc. We have had them checked at the dealer and they just reset for a cost. Also, Bayridge Toyota of Brooklyn NY stated that the engine problem was from over filling the gas tank and a repair of $800. Body: This car dents very easily.

never another toyota - 2001 Toyota Sienna
By skiing family - March 12 - 2:00 amWe had high expectations but found that the vehicle was plagued with expensive maintenance issues. We have spent nearly $10,000 on mechanical repairs and maintenance over 9 years. Mountain trips with kids and their gear too much for brakes, several complete rebuilds. We finally had brakes retro-fitted with racing discs and pads. Weve replaced 3 alternators, two O2 sensors, 2 overdrive solenoids. Service support has been poor. We live in a large city, but parts are never on the shelf. Each time we have required a repair we have lost use of the car for 2 or more days. Over nine years, not with standing routine service, we have probably lost use of the car for 20 to 30 days.

Sienna -- Perfect moving appliance - 2001 Toyota Sienna
By TIPSTER - January 29 - 2:00 amLove the mini van -- can not go wrong. May not have the excitment of others but so what. I want a family car that is reliable, safe to drive and is decent in every other area. I know the design of the Toyota is a little dated and it can not fit a 4x8 wood sheet in the back, but when was the last time you needed to haul whole plywood sheets around. It has plenty of use for 99% of the time. We tested the Chryler and it had a plusher ride but came up way short in many other area.

sienna - 2001 Toyota Sienna
By Carol Burhenn - July 19 - 6:23 amI love this car. Mileage is about 27 miles /gal. highway. The ride is great and I love the spaciousness. I can drive long distances without tiring. The only things that I would change are some of the things that Toyota has done with the new ones - 2nd seat side windows should move, back seats should drop into the floor. I do wish that they would have put an outdoor thermometer on it.

Very Happy with my 2001 Sienna. - 2001 Toyota Sienna
By DaveB - May 19 - 10:00 amBought new.Now have over 300k km and it just keeps going and going. Never had a major repair. Firm believer in preventative maintenance. Did all recommended maintenance exactly as prescribed in manual and have not had any problems. Lost rear wheel bearings at 260K km but fronts still in good condition. It has survived two teenage drivers and is a favorite for group road trips. Always had part of a sports team on-board going somewhere. Very comfortable to drive. I have since purchased 2 used 2001 corollas in 2004 and 2008 for my kids attending university and they just keep going and going. My non Toyota mechanic cant believe the condition of all 3 cars. 2001 was a very good year for Toyotas.
