This Year's Model Updates:

The standard 4.7-liter V8 now delivers 282 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and is hooked to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Sequoia also gets a new front fascia and grille, redesigned taillamps, an in-glass antenna and color-keyed fender flares. A new sport package for the SR5 includes foglamps, tubular running boards, a height-adjustable rear suspension, a front skid plate, the JBL premium sound system and 16-inch alloy wheels. A new Limited Luxury package includes second-row leather bucket seats, a removable center console, unique wood trim, electroluminescent gauges, the height-adjustable rear suspension and memory for the driver seat and outside mirrors. Other additions include available push-button engagement for the 4WD system and an optional navigation system. There's also a new rollover sensor that triggers the side and head curtain airbags in the event of a rollover accident. A third-row center headrest has been added to all Sequoias.

Pros:
  • Refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, Toyota reputation for reliability.
Cons:
  • Nondescript styling, low towing capacity for a full-size SUV.

This is an absolutely great car! Its big and very comfortable. The only problem that I have with the car are its parking brakes. They dont work at all. You can drive the car with them on and it will go down the slope if you dont turn the transmission on to Park.

My Sequoia, is very nice and runs so well the comfort is very nice and has so many different things it can so as far as electronics. It has a very large interior which has alot a room in the back and even nice room for third row seats. The only bad if any and that is with any SUV is gas mileage and we all know about that going in. But over all a great truck and wouldnt trade it for anything.

The only problem we have run into so far is the gas gauge (sometimes the needle will go to empty even though there is over half a tank left) otherwise we are very happy with our sequoia. We owned a Ford Explorer previously and we have learned our lesson to never buy a Ford.

  • Good SUV for the money - 2005 Toyota Sequoia

All SUVs are overpriced in my book, but if you need the size its a good purchase. Has good power. Not as much cargo room as one would expect. Rather noisy. I am average build and I feel like a midget trying to reach for everything. Person who decided where the heated seats button was placed should be shot. Solid feeling, makes one feel very safe. Well put together. Mileage is awful in general, but good in its class. "Toyota Quality" is overrated as Ive had a rather long list of things that have had to be repaired (under warranty of course) like rear window, tire pressure gauge and rear wiper.

I bought this car with 5000 miles on it it drives smooth and dependable. I already took it for repair twice. I had problem with the rear window opening and closing in cold weather. I had also problem with the rear window defroster and the rear window wiper in cold weather.

I chose the Sequoia over the Land Cruiser becasue it is much larger, with tons of room behind the third row seat and the rear door. It rides well in 4WD, much like the Mercedes ML320 that we traded in. We love all the extra space compared with the Mercedes.

I purchased the Toyota after selling my much loved Nissan Pathfinder. We needed something larger and the new Pathfinder / Armada just look "sloppy" in comparison to the Sequoia. A lot of on-line sites will tell you the 05 is just a carry-over of the 04. This is wrong, the 05 has a 282HP engine (compared to 240) and a 5speed automatic (compared to 4 speed) which so far has netted us about 15MPG in mixed driving. The fit and finish appear to be outstanding (some say boring) but in my view approaching Lexus standards.Having only two weeks with the SUV, my only concern is the brakes take a little more effort to slow the Sequoia down than I would like.

Best vehicle I have ever owned, and I have had some of the best. Roomy and can pull a ton and still stop on a dime.
