Bought my Toyota and it already had 80K miles on it. I used it to tow my G35 coupe on a car hauler from Michigan to California. Probably was approaching the max tow capacity of the Toyota but it pulled through like a champ. Even through the mountains of Colorado it pulled fine. It is a great drive and very comfortable as well as roomy. Tremendous quality and peace of mind with this vehicle as I would expect from Toyota, particularly in the fit and finish. No rattles, no funny noises of any kind. At over 90K miles it drives like new. I would buy a Sequoia with 100K+ miles on it before a new domestic any day... very unfortunate for the American companies.

Ive had my seq for over a year now, and its the most comfortable and easy ride Ive had in a while - it compares to riding in a car - but still reminds you its a honking suv.

Love it. Lots of room, great power, easy to drive. Never a problem..Snow, rain or shine, this SUV does it all. If you are looking for a true SUV for looks, ride comfort, realibility, and a overall SUV this is the one.

  • Ride in style - 2001 Toyota Sequoia

My Sequoia is used for personal and business driving. People are always asking what vehicle is this, how do I like it, how is my fuel economy. I let them know it is a Toyota Sequoia, I love it, and I have 2 wheel drive, get 15-16 in town, 18-19 on the road. When I tell them it is a 2001, they cannot believe it. I pride myself on this vehicle and maintain this vehicle through the Toyota dealership. I have attended several business meetings and the majority want to ride in the Sequoia when we travel to restauarants or other areas. No doubt in my mind, this is the vehicle to own, even if it is a bit pricey. It is worth it !

  • Tarnished Quality Reputation - 2001 Toyota Sequoia

I value quality and reliability above all else, price, feature, comfort etc. Both consumer data and experience convinced me Toyota is the best here. So it is with high expecatations for a long life vehicle I bought my 3rd Toyota, this Sequoia. After 5 yrs of dealer only scheduled maintenance and 100K mi, I am very, very disappointed. In reverse chronological order: transmission failed 100K, brakes replaced 5 times (even with total system replacement at 60K), fuel gauge failed 80K, dashboard ignition key receiver failed 70K, dashboard drive gear LED out 70k, traction control oversensitive and grinds 50k. Did not meet expectations of Toyota quality.

  • Great but could use some improvements - 2001 Toyota Sequoia

My wife drove a 4WD 97 4Runner Lmtd up until we sold it and bought this Seq. After alot of shopping, we settled on the Desert SR5 with lthr, wd grain, rear splr and the stl whl pkg. I then traded the stl wheels for some nice rims. Total,I have $35.5k into the vehicle. However, I have two issues that Id like to share. First, fuel economy is 12-13mpg in the city and hwy which I think should be better. Second, just had to replace the front brakes at 21k miles which the dealer is saying will be normal. The 4runner I had 78k on the original set with the same driver/conditions. Therefore, I think Toyota has put too small of brakes on this one.

  • very reliable family on the go SUV - 2001 Toyota Sequoia

I drive more than most Moms I know, and this car has been fabulous in terms of reliability-I had one minor problem with the CD player freezing during the winter but that was worked out. Other than that, it has NEVER broken down, and I have over 110K on the car that is just over 4 years old. Design problems they could fix are that the doors are so heavy they dont stay open on their own (so getting younger children out can be challenging) and they could streamline the overall design so its not so bulky. Those are my only two negative comments.

  • My truck - 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Dependable, and fun to drive either in town or across country, I love my truck. Accommodates all the kids and family, for myself or clients when showing houses. And the feeling of a safe & secure ride.

  • Legendary Quality - 2001 Toyota Sequoia
    By -

Legendary Toyota Quality is just that, a legend. I replaced ALL of the following in the first 12 months: 1) Control module for dashboard instruments 2) Front brake pads 3) Front rotors 4) Rear brake pads 5) Rear rotors 6) Hatch window weather seal 7) Hatch window wiper 8) Power steering pump 9) Alternator 10) Battery 11) Handgrips, coat hooks, etc. I replaced the following in year 2: 1) Brake Pads/Rotors on all 4 wheels 2) All 4 tires (between 25K - 30K miles) The on-the-fly 4 wheel drive system takes a LONG time (> 1 min) to engage.
