This Year's Model Updates:

The standard 4.7-liter V8 now delivers 282 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and is hooked to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Sequoia also gets a new front fascia and grille, redesigned taillamps, an in-glass antenna and color-keyed fender flares. A new sport package for the SR5 includes foglamps, tubular running boards, a height-adjustable rear suspension, a front skid plate, the JBL premium sound system and 16-inch alloy wheels. A new Limited Luxury package includes second-row leather bucket seats, a removable center console, unique wood trim, electroluminescent gauges, the height-adjustable rear suspension and memory for the driver seat and outside mirrors. Other additions include available push-button engagement for the 4WD system and an optional navigation system. There's also a new rollover sensor that triggers the side and head curtain airbags in the event of a rollover accident. A third-row center headrest has been added to all Sequoias.

Pros:
  • Refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, Toyota reputation for reliability.
Cons:
  • Nondescript styling, low towing capacity for a full-size SUV.

I prefer to wait a while before I offer my opinion so this should help used car buyers. The Sequoia is an excellent vehicle. Dont buy this truck if youre looking for a lot of gizmos. Its pretty plain jane compared to the competition. However, if youre looking for a very smooth ride and the satisfaction of knowing this SUV will last forever then buy one. This is a classic Toyota... great ride, quality, reliability and timeless styling. Just a couple of negatives mentioned below. I wont complain about gas mileage. I still dont understand people who buy a V8 SUV and do???

  • Reliable but not a lot of features - 2005 Toyota Sequoia

This truck is one of the better SUVs that I have owned. Its very reliable but lacks in power and doesnt have a lot of features that you would find in similar priced cars.

With a wife and three toddlers, this truck fits the bill. Comfort for them, toys for me (NAV, performance, looks). Kids watch the DVD and have their own headsets, dont hear a peep from them when watching Shrek. The only thing and this is minor would be more cargo space, but can always get one of those Thules for the roof. Highly recommend.

My wife loves this car; everything from the comfort to the design, the power on acceleration, handling, the sound system, the silence when the widows are up, cargo space, the navigation system, back up camera, satellite radio and the DVD player.

For my needs and my dollar this vehicle is perfect. The only things I would work on is improving gas efficiency (good now for a powerful engine) and improving the side wheel covers on all four sides to take bumps better. Just for luxury add a DVD player as standard equipment in the limited model.(: Thanks for my dream retirement car.

  • Top of the line Sequoia Limited - 2005 Toyota Sequoia

I told the dealership to find me the top of the line Sequoia, and they did. What a great vehicle! In addition to the top notch Toyota quality you get a huge SUV - comfortably seats 7. You cant beat this truck if you need space. I couldnt be happier. Ive had it since July 05 and, of course, have had no problems. Avg 15-18 MPG.

Suits all the needs of as busy household with children, pets and things to haul. Also spacious. Great accessories/features in the Limited model. Plenty of power and a smooth ride front and back make it a pleasure to drive long or short distance.

  • Great car/needs some improvement - 2005 Toyota Sequoia

I love the look of my Sequoia and how it drives. There wasnt an available year for me to fill in for my car. It is a 2002.

  • 2005 Sequoia - Better Than 2002 ! - 2005 Toyota Sequoia
    By -

I traded in a 2002 SR5 Sequoia with 60,000 miles on it. Zero repairs, never a minutes trouble - loved the car. Wanted the new 5 speed auto transmission and larger engine. The trade in value was too good to pass up. The new 2005 has 4000 miles on it after 1.5 months. 2000 miles in one trip. 5 speed transmission is a plus. Some of the exterior features are not as "robust" as they were in 2002 (running boards) The extra 40 plus horsepower is a real "kick" when it is needed!
