  • Your clothes will get dirty - 2016 Toyota RAV4
    By -

The front doors dont seal properly hence theres always dirt, mud, or grime that builds ups along the bottom edge of both front doors. This continual dirt of course gets on your clothes whenever you get in or out. After working extensively with Toyota (learned this is a common design flaw with other Toyotas to), they offered NO solution. Anyone who spends good money on their wardrobe should take heed and look for something else to drive, unless they dont care about their clothes. Because of this terribly annoying design flaw, weve only put 1,700 on it after owning it six months. Its not the car keys we grab first. Instead its only a car for when my spouse is using our other vehicle that happens to be a 1999 Dodge van. To think I wasted this much money on a car we hate to drive is the ultimate in buyers remorse.

  • In love with my new RAV - 2016 Toyota RAV4

I have only had this car for about 6 weeks but I love it so far. I love the feel of it and the extra cargo space is great! We took it camping a couple weeks ago.. Awesome!! You can lay the back seats down flat and lay a couple good self inflating camping pads down, best nights sleep while camping yet. (Probably wont work if you are over 59) The weather was a little cold still so we only cracked the moon roof for ventilation, it was perfect. I plan to get an SUV tent for the summer months. I am excited for more adventures with my new Rav! My only irritation so far is the technology. I have my iphone connected but for some reason it keeps deleting my phone contacts and I have to reload them again which is a pain when you just want to make a call. Navigating through play lists and music is easy enough but could be better. I can figure it out but whole system could be alittle more intuitive.

  • I own an XLE AWD hybrid, just rented this one - 2016 Toyota RAV4

Faced with the TSA backlogs and nonsense at the airport, I decided to drive back from Atlanta, to Philly, using a one way rental. It was a 2016 RAV4, FWD, XLE. I own an XLE hybrid version, so I knew it would be comfortable as I love my owned one. Well, what was supposed to be a 13 hour drive, turned into an 18 hour drive. All in one day, leaving the airport rental lot at 5am, arriving at Philly airport at 11pm. We stopped by our house to drop off our bags before going to the airport, adding 1 hour. But, the point of the story is that after 18 hours on the road with this car, I will tell you I have never been more comfortable on a long car ride - and this was the longest Ive been on in a one day trip. Yes, the paint on the hood does chip easily, my rental had lots of them from lots of highway miles. On my own car, I added a bug/stone deflector, and it helps. But the hybrid is made in Japan, and the paint is a higher quality. I know, I had the 2015 LIMITED that I traded in on the XLE hybrid. The 2015 had lots of chips on the hood and around the door frames. The 2016 hybrid does not. So, a great car, love it alot, and if the paint chips bother you, get the hybrid while they are still made in Japan. Nothing bad to say about my rental, and would highly recommend for anyone who wants a great SUV/CUV without any drama/problems/etc. The paint thing was frustrating, but the bug deflector seemed to help alot.

  • Problems already - 2016 Toyota RAV4

After owning 2 weeks I found that no one can hear me using the phone inside vehicle. There seems to be water intrusion when washing vehicle. Acceleration is poor on highway and left me add what a gas guzzler. I expected more quality coming from Toyota, as I had the Lexus suv. The handling is poor. The technology is llacking, it doesnt understand my voice control at all. Already bringing it in to get fixed. If the alignment isnt off then the car absolutely handles horribly on the roads and highways. I put my hand down to pick up a candy and pulled out a plastic cover.

  • Cant go places with our new 2016 RAV4 - 2016 Toyota RAV4

What had happen to Toyota? The quality is not there any longer... We own the car only for a month and had the whole headliner replaced as it was not correctly installed in the factory. Now the car makes whining sound and Toyota service is not very helpful to resolve the issue.

  • this is a fine car - 2016 Toyota RAV4

ive ony owned my new rav4 for a few weeks which makes many of the above value judgments sort of meaningless. But so far I have no complaints. The happiest aspect of our short life together is fuel economy - 28.5 mpg overall with a healthy dose of town driving and 31 and change on the interstate. My guess is that a light foot is the answer. We try our best to keep the "eco" light on and it pays off. Otherwise, the seating is more comfortable than it was in our 2009 rav an theres plenty of legroom in the rear. Havent tried to load her up for the annual trip to AK and am hoping that the lack of storage space under the rear floor wont be too much of an issue. Cant wait to try the off road performance!

  • Decent Rental But Wont Buy One - 2016 Toyota RAV4
    By -

Rented a Rav4 that had only 4k miles and drove it 700 miles roundtrip. Decent cargo and visibility. Couldnt figure out entertainment interface to control by steering wheel, so had to overreach to search and/or change radio and satellite stations. Also, couldnt figure out how to dial using display like my 2013 Kia Rio EX, so had to use my phone, even though the phone was paired to the Rav4. Aside from those small annoyances, the biggest drawback for me was the uncomfortable drivers seat. Another problem I experienced is the super responsive handling is a major flaw on uneven and unpaved highway. I had to fight to control the FWD while going 65-70mph over an unexpected long stretch of unpaved and uneven highway (thanks, CalTrans, for the warning - not!)
