Overall, I love my Prius. I do a lot of driving and have only good things to say about it. I dont get 60 mpg but, Im a fast driver and youd have to consistently go 30 mph to get the 60 rating in my particular car. I average 45-50. I only have to gas up twice a month!! When I first got it 2 yrs. ago people would point and stare when I drove it. I was the first one in town to have one, so it was an oddity. Now, I get the thumbs-up and Im seeing more and more of them around town. I cant say enough good things about it.

What the Prius lacks in style it more than makes up for in substance. It offers remarkable fuel economy. The annual fuel cost for a Prius is less than a monthly fuel expeness of other vehicles. Another BIG bonus (especially for Southern California drivers) is being able to drive in the carpool lane without needing to have any passangers on board with you. An options package also includes an in dash AM/FM cassette/6 CD changer, with 9 speaker sound system and voice activated DVD navigation system among others, all for under $26,000. The Prius offers the driver to save both time and money. Not many cars on the market today can do that.

The 04 Prius is revolutionary because its mainly electric with gas assist only when needed. As if the great mileage werent enough, the multi- display touch screen actually teaches the owner how to drive even more efficiently. Hybrid electric "stealth" mode allows quiet driving in town and in traffic jams with almost no emissions. Theres lots of power on the highway with very little wind resistance or wind noise. And the liftback design is both practical and sharp-looking.

This vehicle is fun to drive. It is smooth and quiet. The car is just about perfect for everyday driving. The dashboard layout is superb. The car comes standard with almost all the necessities. It offers a different driving experience than its competitors. Easy to drive and great turning radius. Lots of interior space. The hatch style increases cargo room. Plus federal govt and state govt incentives. Reliablity so far seems to be good however I did notice a rattle come and go in the dashboard. Amazing technology for the price.

Great car! Highly recommended. Nothing bad to say. Good performance, lots of torque going up hills, reasonably quiet ride. Gets between 47 and 52 MPG depending on speed. Cruise control works good. Best gas mileage about 67 vs 70 MPH. Replaced original, never rotated, tires at 40K miles because of wear on outside edges. Replaced with Hankook Tires. Would like more comfortable drivers seat. Cant seem to get leg reach to accelerator and arm reach to steering wheel just right.

Changing from a 13 year old smooth riding Buick sedan, the Prius was a new adventure. The learning curve was definitely stressed for us but we are very happy with the mileage, comfort, soundless ride. Even on long drives, the seats are very comfortable.

For anyone out there considering one, I spoke to friends who have earlier models and of all of them I have only received the most glowing recommendations - they LOVE their cars. And this is before Toyota added all the fun, handy , and helpful bells and whistles. Really consider one if you can - test drive it definitely. And by the way, I ADORE it! I was telling a friend, that even if I had won the lottery and could pick any car, this is EXACTLY the car I would wish to own - very happy with it.

The Prius is a fun car to drive. All of the technology that is working under the hood is nearly undetectable as you drive. It feels like any other sedan. The display which shows the different systems working is very interesting.

Im one of the lucky ones who puchased a 2004 Prius in Nov. 2003. The car is a pure pleasure to drive wherever you are in city or highway. I just returned from a trip to Mammoth, Calif. and back to Upland, Calif. a distance of 750 miles. I had the car packed with other friends ski gear and food for four days. We left this valley, elevation 1000 ft. with a gradual climb to Mammoth elevation 8000 ft. over all gas mileage to Mammoth was 50mpg and coming back to our valley we got 55mpg. It is a very adequate "road" car with good power and very comfortable.

  • Fib or Fraud? - 2004 Toyota Prius

Toyota claims 61 mpg town, 51 hwy. Actual in my 04 Prius after 5K miles is 43 town 49 hwy. A 30% difference on town driving is fraud. The overall mileage is good, but toyo doesnt deliver on their claims. The car is very unstable in a cross wind. Just like a 64 VW. And I have stability control. It can really be scary with big trucks tossing you around. Seats are very uncomfortable after about an hour. Toyo, you can do better. Rear view thru back window is crummy. Engine noise is LOUD when passing or on very steep hill. Sounds like its going to blow up. My wife really likes the car. Just dont expect Toyo to tell the truth.
