By C.R.C. - July 3 - 10:00 amAlthough gas mileage is a bit lower than the sticker indicated, 50 m.p.g. around town and on the inter-state is rather amazing. then there is the wonderful experience of filling up every two week for about $7 - even with todays high gas prices.

Computer problems - 2004 Toyota Prius
By kdc - July 3 - 10:00 amWe immediately started having problems with the prius computer saying check engine and take to service station immediately. Our dealership said it was safe to drive, and that toyota would have the fix for it in several weeks. Meanwhile, we were responsible for paying for the rental car while they took their time to have it checked out. Toyota customer service is terrible.

By Fly-boy Sr. - June 27 - 8:13 amTire pressures were 5# over those recommended by owners manual, and rear- seat ride was noisy and uncomfortable; both front and rear are good to excellent now and less tiring than other vehicles driven. Power steering provides less road feel than others driven, but with practice (6500 on odometer) it becomes more natural. Fuel consumption has been greater than mfg. estimates, but is steadily improving with experience driving conservatively and apparent break-in. Freeway driving and hill climbing performance is competitive with all but the hottest; acceleration is very smooth and surprisingly brisk, given the 1.5 L engine size.

By John Price - June 1 - 3:06 amWe liked our 03 Prius so much we bought an 05 also. Its peppy, has an amazing turning radius, a gadgeteers dream, but DO NOT run out of gas in it. Bummer. We get 45 +/_ mpg around town, 54 on the road.

Incredible Car - 2004 Toyota Prius
By Bill Gailey - June 1 - 2:00 amAfter test driving the Prius, I realized that this was the car that I wanted. Its fun and inexpensive to drive. We drove it to Richmond from Charlotte and got 50+ miles/gallon and it handled beautifully. I have only owned it for three (3) weeks, but have found nothing about it that I dont like. Even my wife, who is has back problems, finds it comfortable. I hope Toyota or Lexus will put this engine into one of their SUVs soon. Thank you.

By ALH - May 28 - 8:03 pmI love cars. I commute about 70 minutes to work, 80/20 highway/traffic. Regardless of what car I drove, my commute was getting to be a dull grind compounded by a growing guilt about the gas and pollution involved. Since getting my 2004 Prius 2 Years ago, all that changed. Now I enjoy my commute. Every trip is like a game. Every trip is an inspiration to my sense of innovation and thoughtful execution (I am a professional Mechanical Engineer and design industrial machinery). Sure my mileage does not match EPA, no cars do. The point is that, for me, this car is perfect: reliable, comfortable, roomy, safe, cost effective, fun, progressive, inspiring and, oh yes and easier on the environment.

By gsmith - May 26 - 2:00 amWe bought this car partly because we are environment-conscious and due to its features. So far we have not been disappointed. We have driven it about 200 miles. Great car, fun to drive. Good design, ample leg space and cargo space. Better mileage than its competitors in its class. However, mileage is ranging around 42-45 mpg in city driving conditions, much less than the EPA estimates, may be because of winter and the break-in period. The car is quite smooth and except during acceleration between 10 and 30 mph. External road noise from other cars is quite audible especially on highways. Need to improve sound insulation.

By Tim Edwards - May 21 - 10:00 amThis is a $60,000 car with a $25,000 price tag. Outside takes some getting used to, but inside is like a state of the art luxery car. The high tech accessories are fantastic. The 2004 Prius will surely go down as a classic car in the league with the Ford Model A. It is clearly the best car choice I have ever made.
