  • gas mileage? - 2004 Toyota Prius

wow- best car ive ever had. surprising gift was its good on snow and ice in brutal iowa winters. bad news is the gas mileage is nowhere near what is advertised (low 40s) but its better on warm days so hope to hit 50 in spring. curious- please email scicineast@aol.com to tell me what mileage you get. i drive like mr. macgoo. not the best rear view visbility and prefer hand knob weather controls to touch screen but love this car in every way. plenty good acceleration and performance for every day driving. tons of storeage.

The only flaw Ive found, after six months of driving, is that rear visibility isnt as good as Id like. Otherwise, this car is perfect. Its peppy and fun to drive, its economical, its comfortable (even for 66" me), and its a head-turner.

  • Went from Mercedes Benz to Prius - 2004 Toyota Prius

My friends laughed at me when I said I was parking my Mercedes Benz S600 and buying a Toyota Prius. Now Im laughing at them as fuel prices soar and commuting here in Northern California has become a major part of my day and expenses. I commute almost 200 miles per day and was spending almost $150 per week filling up my 12 cylinder car. The beauty of the Prius is that its very comfortable (consider the fact that Im 60 tall and weigh 250 lbs). The car handles very well and has plenty of power to climb steep hills. I also save enough money on gas to pay the car note and insurance. Essentially this car pays for itself. Big Daddy says "Dont knock it til you try it".

  • Pleasant Surprise - 2004 Toyota Prius

This car is a very pleasant surprise....it actually gets the mileage it is suppose to, drives wonderfully well, and appears to be of great quality. On my first fillup, I calculated my average mpg to be 56. When it runs only on the battery (less than 32 mph), you get almost unlimited mpg at least until the engine kicks in to recharge the battery. I usually am bored with cars....this one is a keeper.

  • JUST ONE THING - 2004 Toyota Prius
    By -

Everything you all say about this auto is right on, except one thing. You have overlooked one small detail. I live in snow country, guess what? I found out it is exactly 4.9 inches off the ground, and you might as well plan on keeping it in the garage in the winter time here. Otherewise it is just wonderful. THANK GOD my Toyota dealer is understanding, I now drive another Toyota product and am now happy once again.

  • The best! - 2004 Toyota Prius

Ive driven all types of vehicles and none can compare to my prius! Not only does it make me feel good that i am doing my thing for the enviornment, the car is fun to drive! Really nice pick up, smooth, quiet ride and toyota reliability! the optional DVD navigation is the best navigation on the market. Easy to use and quite direct! I am averaging 50+ mpg with over 25k. With todays gas prices (3 dollars plus) I can still fill up for under 30 dollars and get close to 400 miles a tank (sometimes more)!! Do yourself a favor, get yourself a prius!! Youll be glad that you did.

  • Prius is all it claims to be and more! - 2004 Toyota Prius

This is the best car I have ever driven! I drive nearly 40 miles each way to work over (mostly) country roads, I have several stops and turns. I average 50-53 MPG. My husband has more head room in this car than in any car we have had. The car handles great in all weather conditions. I arrived on time at work all last winter. My 87 year old father (a former mechanic and staunchly "buy American") has said, "If I were to buy another car, this would be it; it is a quality car all around!"

  • The wave of the future! - 2004 Toyota Prius

This car is awesome!! Ive only had it for about 2 days, but already I LOVE driving it! I purchased the BC package with the dvd system, smart entry, 6 cd changer, everything! Fully loaded. The ride is incredibly smooth! The car is so quite when you start up the engine, and when I was at a stop light, I almost thought that the car had cut off (its THAT quiet!!). There is ample room in the front and rear seats. I cant wait to drive this car! I wake up in the morning excited and anticipating my drive to work! (haha..I wonder how long that will last??)

  • The first no-compromises hybrid car - 2004 Toyota Prius
    By -

The new Prius brings hybrid cars into the mainstream. Power now feels comparable to many sedans and it gets up to 60 mpg! ItÂ’s also much larger and more refined than the old model. It has remarkable space inside, with generous rear seat legroom and lots of luggage room with the new hatchback and fold-down rear seats (very Saab-like). I got mine fully loaded with SatNav system, Bluetooth, side curtain airbags, Smart Entry (*very* cool), and much more. All this for about $26,000 (base price is about $20,000). In summary, this is simply a great midsize car that happens to also be the greenest car on the planet. There are clearly no compromises in this hybrid.
