  • Best Car I Have Ever Owned - 2004 Toyota Prius

I have owned many cars in my lifetime from Chevrolet to Jaguar. The Toyota Prius is the best car I have ever owned. With over 55,000 miles it has performed flawlessly with absolutely no probloms. We recently drove it from the East Coast to Lyons Colorado. We averaged 53 mpg at 70 miles per hour with the A/C on. I recently purchased another new one for my wife. Both cars rate a 10 in all categories.

The first thing that struck me about this car was how quiet it is. Compared to my Avalon, Camry, and Honda Odyssey, this car is nearly silent at street speeds, even with the engine running. The Smart Entry and Start feature is very handy, and almost spoils the Prius driver (wheres that feature for my house?). The cabin is laid out logically and the speedo display is placed better than the earlier generation Prius. Its no race car, but performance is credible, and fuel economy is incredible - about 45-47 in my real world experience. Handling is actually pretty good, a lot better than my 97 Avalon.

I paid $3000 over MSRP, when most dealers are charging $6-7000 over. Im 62" and barely fit comfortably. The arm rest (center console) for the driver needs more padding. The gas mileage is awsome! There is more road noise than the Camery, but hands down makes up for it in mileage. All-in-all a great car.

This is my second Prius and I love it. When I see my friends fill up their tanks with gas I know Ill never switch back to a non-hybrid car. Its comfortable to ride in and the new one is more spacious. There are only a few things that I would change. I would make the interior available in leather and add a sunroof.

The title says it all! I love it! The Prius is zippy, fun, and great on gas. It has a ton of room for a small car!

This is a fantastic car to own and drive! You cant beat the fuel economy (Ive been averaging 52 mpg with an even split between highway and around town driving) It is easy to operate. I highly recommend the "Smart Entry" option.

I have had the car since 11/5/03, so far 430 miles. Mileage not what I had hoped, first tank must not have been full. Still learning how to get the most from this car. I am looking forward to taking a trip in this car.

Have owned a 2004 Prius with package #9 for two full weeks. Average gas milage so far is 47mpg (consistent with Consumers Report findings). With the cruise control set at 72 mph the Prius NEVER stuggled to maintain that speed even going up steep highway grades. When passing a couple trucks it hit 85 mph with no sweat. Everything functions flawlessly as the hybrid system switches between gas and electric. Ergonoics are good. NAV system is ok, but on some streets it reads the address several house number ahead or behind.

Waited 3 months for the Prius to get to me and now I am having fun driving. Comfort level is great. This is my third hybrid. #1 Insight -small but fun. #2 Civic Hybrid larger but not as much fun. Now the Prius- mid sized, good gas mileage, comfortable. good pick-up from stop sign and this is a fun car to drive. I have the #9 pkg. Voice activation is a scream.Electric driving is quiet.
