  • Almost like winning the lottery! - 2004 Toyota Prius

I didnt expect that it would be so hard to get my new 2004 Prius, when learning that if we hadnt pre-ordered the car, it might be almost a year to have the opportunity to purchase from the dealership! I LOVE DRIVING THE PRIUS! People frequently ask me questions about the hybrid engine, and still have the notion that electric car means I have to plug it in to charge somewhere...Toyota engineering is FABULOUS and the electric/gas engine has plenty of functionality on the open road. In bumper to bumper city traffic, it is so quiet and more comfortable when stuck at a long traffic light. This car is a pleasure to drive.

After only one 1000 miles of use I have been in two major snow storms and have dirven seven hours in snow going to Killington. The car is great in snow but it does not replace all wheel drive. It had trouble going up the bear mountain access road because the road was not plowed. It is at least 10 times better in snow than the 1994 Honda Accord.

This is what the world has been waiting for. Move over oil companies, think global, not with your bank account. 400 miles to the tank full, unbelievable. Leave it to toyota. And just think this is only the begining. What next. Incredible vehicle.

With demand so high there were few chances to test drive, so I expected some unpleasantness when I got the car. Waited 8 weeks. Driving it for 60 days and I think its great. Avg 52 MPG. Instrument panel is a lot of fun. Nav system is very cool and the sound system is fine. I highly recomend the Prius

We traded a 1995 Cadillac Seville, SLS, for our Prius, and have never been sorry a minute. The interior is exceptionally well designed, and the electronics are superb. Good air conditioning, easy to read instruments, good storage space, and comfortable for 4 adults. Weve been pleasantly surprised on its long trip capabilities, having taken it on two trips of over 2,000 miles. Our friends say, "Thats what we all should be driving".

  • You Gotta Get One Of These!!! - 2004 Toyota Prius

I actually got this car as a renter when I had some major warranty work performed on my own car. But after getting to drive this car I only wished the my car was kept in the shop longer. This thing drives like a dream and I am SERIOUSLY thinking about parking one in my garage in the near future. The car itself is conversation piece whereever I go and gets the most unusal stares while rolling down the Boulevard. Its a technological Tour de Force and I can easily why it was Motor Trends Car of the Year and also in Car and Drivers Ten Best lineup.

Had a 2003 Prius, quantum step up. Plenty of go, keeps up with traffic.Great styling, draws questions and stares. Added tints, mudflaps and striping. If I get under 45mpg, I do I am doing something wrong. Makes you a better driver w/gas at 1.79. Go towork all week, drive around town, need about 3-4 gallon refill. Wake up America, get off the horsepower kick!!

I have nothing bad to say about my car yet. It has better pick-up than my previous all gasoline engine (VW Scirocco). I love it and you cant beat 50 mpg average.

  • Bad! - 2004 Toyota Prius

I owned this car for three and a half years, used about 60,000 miles and it was awesome until it rained, snowed or was windy at all. I felt completely unsafe, and scared during any storm or driving on snow. The seats were decently sized, but hard as rocks. The gas mileage was the reason I bought it, and that stayed true to what was said about how great it was. I ended up buying a Honda SUV because this car scared me so much to drive even on a sunny day with lots of wind. I now feel so much safer, and would never purchase another small Toyota again.

Aside from the great fuel economy my wife and I really like our 2004 Salsa Red Prius. As we have learned to take advantage of the hybrid technology the average mileage has climbed from 45mpg to about 50 now with a lifetime average of about 48. It really does get 51mpg at 65mph on the freeway. The surround sound audio system is great. We got the 6-CD player system. My wife changed her cell phone to one with built in Blue Tooth technology so it could work with the Prius built in system. Our family is tall. Im 62. My wife is 6. And our 4 boys range from 63 to 65. All can sit in the back seat and have plenty of knee room with the front seats in normal position.
