Great car - bought in 2000 first year out. 2 problems (radio, sunroof) that toyota took care of. Handles great, much better ride than RSX and less road noise. Quick, but not fast. Worst blind spot ever. Still have random people asking me about it at safeway.

Ive been driving my Celica for over two years now. Its been a very reliable piece of transportation. Im somewhat disappointed in the high reving powerband. Even in the "sport" tiptronic mode, I find that it has minimal power to move across intersections or through traffic. Once the engine reaches full "boil" performance is better. Interior and exterior fit and finish have held up well over the last 2.5 years. It requires Premium grade fuel, so expect to pay out the $1.62+ at the pump.

Extremely fun car to drive. I get a lot of compliments on my gts. Never had any problems whats-so-ever out of it except the antenna is a little loose and makes some noise

Ive had my Red 2000 Toyota Celica GT for 2 years and have had only few repairs done to it. (Tire router, Tie rod, O2 sensor) and it runs amazingly. The Celica does not have the strongest engine, seeing its only a 1.8L engine with an inline 4, but it does have a surprisingly fast acceleration due to its light-weight design. My Celica has been turning heads everywhere I go, and thats half the fun of driving isnt it? She hugs turns with amazing grip. I can go 45mph on a highway ramp without any body roll! Ive kept her in amazing condition, and babied her for as long as Ive had her. I highly recommend buying a Celica if your looking for an inexpensive sports car.

  • Awesome car - 2000 Toyota Celica

This is my first brand new car and it is a great car! It is sporty with adequate performance and I love the styling (I still get compliments). It is also the most practical sports car, it can fit alot in the hatch when you have the back seats down, I fit my Christmas tree in it every year. I havent had any mechanical problems with it except for a squeaky serpentine belt, but I dont put many miles on a year.

  • My 5th Celica - 2000 Toyota Celica
    By -

This is my 5th Celica. Ive had a 78, 83, 86, 90 and bought this one brand new. My first new car. Have had no problems with it, with the exception of a head light burned out at 500 miles (under warranty) and the driver side window came off track at 1500 miles (also under warranty). I would recommend a toyota to anybody, just this car is not for all. It is on the small side and low to the ground and can become a problem getting in and out of it. Also the factory tires are junk and wore out (I dont get on the car) and had to be replaced at 32,000 miles.

  • Blind Spots - 2000 Toyota Celica

The car provides too many blind spots. Had to add mirrors in order to change lanes a little safer. The back seats were even unconfortable for my 6-13 year old nieces. They hated the car even though it looked nice.

  • Avoid the 2000-2002 GT model engines!!! - 2000 Toyota Celica

I got it with 87k miles on it, and within a month I noticed it was going through a lot of oil. It turns out theres a known oil consumption issue with these 1zz-fe engines. Theres a website that even sells over sized pistons specifically for this issue. I rebuilt the engine, because the car is beautiful, I love the interior, and its a blast to drive. Its like driving a go kart that can go on the free way.. However, this engine is awful. Im at 162k miles and now the head gasket is blown, and I cant go anywhere without it overheating. If I had to do it over, I wouldve gotten a GT-S model.
