Overview & Reviews
The all-new 2000 Toyota Celica is considerably more performance-oriented than the previous model. Highlights include a sleek exterior, a 180-horsepower engine and six-speed gearbox for the GT-S, and sharp handling.
- New styling, new engines, new excitement.
- Celica GT-S engine is peaky for in-town use.

Fun little hatchback for a daily driver! - 2000 Toyota Celica
By OUFinny - February 8 - 12:10 amI purchased this car used in 2005 with about 52,000 on the ticker and it was in reasonable shape at the time. After some finesse on my part and a new set of wheels and tires (mine were out of round and the tires were wrecked due to bad alignment, it really started to come along. Besides some maintenance like a new fuel filter, belt tensioner and serpentine, and new lift gate shocks; the car is dead nuts reliable. The gas mileage in mine is good but I see only an average of about 25-26 and 28-30 on the highway. With the black leather interior it is HOT HOT in the Texas sun but the A/C does a great job of cooling you down and keeping comfortable. I am happy and will drive into the ground!

GT - 2000 Toyota Celica
By pdogmurphy - April 26 - 2:00 amNice car - quick but not fast enough. Handles perfect, shifting is good. Ride is comfortable - better than RSX and quieter. Low road and engine noise. Mileage is ~27 mixed - Im not a calm driver tho. View of blind spot and rear view is terrible. Especially with the spoiler in the way. Plastic interior damages very easily. I dont mind the look - but scratches/gouges too much.

Great purchase - 2000 Toyota Celica
By Daiquiri - February 24 - 10:00 amMy Celica is almost two years old and was a great buy. I got a fabulous deal on it and have not been disappointed. I now really want a convertible or a car with a removable roof-panel, otherwise Id keep it for years.

Great car, fun to drive - 2000 Toyota Celica
By Dolores - November 29 - 2:00 amI bought this car used with 140K miles and put another 60K on it in 2 years. The car is extremely reliable and has had no mechanical issues. Sadly, a man in a Ford F150 broad sided us at 70 mph and totaled my nice little red car. He had to be towed and we loaded up our loose and knocked off parts in the hatch and kept driving. This car is so much fun to drive on twisty roads because its handling allows the car to scream through tight curves. Another bonus is its consistent 32 mpg. It has been as high as 36 mpg (ideal conditions @ 60 mph). Its been a great car and I hate to see it go.

Love it! - 2000 Toyota Celica
By jessek1 - October 8 - 5:30 amI have wanted this car since high school (graduate of 03) and finally bought one in 2007. Had only 24k on it so practically new. I have lots of other drivers look my way. People always compliment that the style looks new, most people assume it is a new model car, not knowing production was stopped in 05. I will keep it until it rusts from under me!!! Despite the frigid Iowa weather last year, it started fairly easily before work. Needs more power, men especially will want to race me, only for me to act like I am receiving a phone call from someone right when it turns green. Tricky, tricky!

60000 miles and still running like new - 2000 Toyota Celica
By macknannie - April 14 - 10:00 amThis girl is 3 years old now with over 60,000 miles and still running as good as the day I bought her. She got some new tires and the spoiler needed tightened. A squeeky belt was replaced. Pretty good, considering I always used to dump my Fords at 50,000 miles because thats when they started costing an arm and leg to maintain. She still hugs the road, she still looks good, and she will be with me for another 3 years at least.

I love my baby - 2000 Toyota Celica
By Bambi7830 - December 7 - 10:00 amThis car is my baby!!! I knew this would be my last sporty car before having children and being confined to a min-van or SUV and Im glad this is the one I chose. The exterior design is so neat. It attracts a lot of attention. Even stock, this car cruises!! It is a sports car though, so there are problems. I need to crack the sun room so my husbands head doesnt hit the roof, and it has the worst blind spots (next to my friends MR2).

Celica Here today, gone tomorrow? - 2000 Toyota Celica
By GO FOR IT - April 1 - 10:00 amThis is the second Celica GT I have had. I bought it because my first one was so reliable. I had 120,000 miles on it and had absolutely no problems. I love the ride and the handling of the 2000, but it lacks substantially in acceleration. I would not be able to keep up with some of the other imports if it wasnt for some of my upgrades. Overall, very reliable vehicle and no worries so far. But i think that Toyota has to do something with performance or it will eliminate itself from the demanding market of imports

Elle OnWheels - 2000 Toyota Celica
By Elle OnWheels - November 21 - 11:56 pmThe thing burns through the oil. If you dont supplement it, immediately it wears down the seals and eventually will blow your engine. The thing burns through tires like crazy too. My engine has blown..but Im not opposed to trying again with another. Ill just be extra careful about the oil! Also, dont try putting anyone above or below the age of 8 in the back seat. Carseats dont fit well and neither do legs.

Great car, remember its over a decade old - 2000 Toyota Celica
By kms1990 - November 16 - 10:00 amGreat looking car even at 100k+ miles engine is strong for 1.8L 140 hp i4 the interior looks modern and is well designed and built look out for factory exhaust though catalytic converters are a big issue with these cars its all over Internet forums and with that comes O2 sensors as well at $200+ a sensor make sure your intake stays clean or it will start all these problems and it gets nasty easy causing many preventable headaches it also needs premium plugs even the gt not just gts or it will burn through them fast over all though great car not many complaints after I fixed the exhaust issues and cleaned intake no major issues when cat dies it can leave you stuck just use caution when buying
