Pros:

Cons:
  • Celica GT-S engine is peaky for in-town use.

  • This car ROCKS - 2000 Toyota Celica

The GTS models are simply the best... quick, reliable, bullet-proof, great gas mileage, you name it. I have over 120,000 miles on this car and it runs and drives like new. Handles like it is on rails (mine is lowered just a bit), awesome and easy to modulate brakes, tight steering. The stock 6 speaker stereo is excellent, with surprising bass. The only thing that has gone wrong with this car was my own fault... missed a shift at 8000 rpms (third to 2nd instead of 4th) and bent all the exhaust valves. Fixed it and she has never complained. I get 32-33mpg combined (city and highway), and I can run 87 octane gas without knocking (with just a little power loss). Best car I have ever owned.

Bought mine with 116,000 miles on it. It now has 169,000. Replaced tires, clutch, changed coolant, had it tuned up and had all 4 struts replaced (not out of necessity, just because I wanted to). Its been running perfect ever since. I get (30 mpg) even when I drive it hard and have fun. Check engine light came on about a year ago, I replaced the Cat. Converter, light still stays on, but the car runs fine. I keep waiting for it to give me a sign its ready to be traded, but I believe Ill be waiting a while for this to happen.

  • All around great sport coupe - 2000 Toyota Celica

My 2000 GT-S has a little over 40,000 miles on it, and Im still lovin it. The car looks great and is one of the best-handling FWD cars out there. Buyers should be aware that the engine on the GT-S can be a little finicky. Like most Japanense sport coupes, you have to rev quite high for substantial power. The benefits are power on- demand while retaining excellent gas mileage(30+).

  • Learned to love it! - 2000 Toyota Celica

I was shamed by my sister into replacing my gas guzzling Jeep Grand Cherokee for my new daily commute when I moved in with her. I missed the noise and drama of my old car, but began to appreciate the precise handling and economy, after choosing it for its safety rating. I tend to have a lead foot, so it helped me enjoy driving with finesse and agility. Keep away from the z rated tires (too noisy) and learn how not to bottom out, and it will serve you well. I really learned to love it.

  • This Baby does fly - 2000 Toyota Celica

This is my second Toyota (I had a 94 pickup previously). I was looking for a car and never really liked the style of the Celica but once I test drove it I knew it was mine. The exterior design rapidly grew on me! This car has nice acceleration, seats, sound system, and man "it turns like its on rails" (what my neighbor said as he test drove it). Country roads are a blast! It hasnt had to have anything done to it but an oil change and new rims. New rims please!! Stock ones are hitious.

  • Fun drive - 2000 Toyota Celica

Drives well at all speeds, responsive and quick. handles curves and turns nice with tight steering and decent suspension system. I am generally happy with the vehicle.

  • Performance & Quality - 2000 Toyota Celica

I have owned my celica for a little over a year now. My daily round-trip commute is 45 miles. I live up in Northwest Arkansas where 90% of the backroads are twisty small mountains. This car is awesome for that type of driving. It has power when kept in the meaty part of the rpm-band, and it feels like its apart of the road when driven to such extremes.

  • Mostly Good... - 2000 Toyota Celica

I got my Auto Celica GT from my dad, supposedly for my work (i got fired 3 days after i got the celica) I really do like the overall style and reliablity. What sucks though is the POWER! more specifically, the torque. I guess what hurts in my case is the automatic and GT model. I really wish they had tossed in a turbo or something... i actually had a choice between my celica and another one on the used car lot... it was a red GTS manual with lots of upgrades...WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!

  • Sporty Economy Car - 2000 Toyota Celica

2000 GTS-Auto - this car should NEVER have an automatic, extra weight and 4 gears combined with a very low torque equal a poor accelertor. 0-60 in 10.2 seconds, not as quick as a loaner Echo I had (9.8 sec). Very reliable, 25 mpg (60% highway) - unfortunately premium fuel. This car needs something to improve low end torque and should drop the automatic. The auto provides no benefit, except to wives that wont drive manual - E-shift is a stupid gimmick. The 6K rpm valve lift change over too close to the 7800 red line. Its the only thing providing a brief hint of acceleration. Road Noise is high (improved slightly by changing tire bran
