This Year's Model Updates:

A few minor changes are in store for Toyota's large sedan. On the outside, you'll find freshened styling that consists of a new grille, new taillamps and redesigned bumpers. Inside, the 2003 Avalon has been upgraded with dual-stage airbags and ISO-FIX child safety seat anchor points. XLS models also have more features this year, including an autodimming driver-side mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a simulated wood-trimmed steering wheel and an optional navigation system.

Pros:
  • Lexus-like quality, smooth V6 engine, huge rear seat.
Cons:
  • High price tag, bland personality.

This is my second Avalon. Traded in my 8th new Cadillac on the 2000 Avalon, because I was tired of poor quality. The fit, finish, and overall quality of the Avalon impressed me as much as that of the Lexus 300 sedan -- and its a bigger car, with more room for back seat passengers.

Body integrity is one complaint. Doors require a little extra push to latch....often require a second slam. Trip computer resets every time you stop so what good is the "trip" computation....also mileage resets after every tank full so there is no accumulating mileage for all types of driving.

  • Luxury in an affordable package - 2003 Toyota Avalon

The Avalon is not going to win any styling awards or be confused with a sport sedan, but with that said, the Avalon has no other weaknesses. If you want to feel your surrounded in luxury and want a comfortable ride that even the best luxury car will be pressed to match. The Avalon is your car. The car is extremely quiet and with the upgraded sound system, its almost like sitting in theater. Toyota reliability and workmanship in a glove leather package.

This car is a very big BANG for the buck. Traction control, Force Dsitribution braking, ABS 4-channel brakes, Navigation system, auto-lights and wipers, heated seats, SMOOTH RIDE, cavernous back seat, 6-CD in-dash changer and REAL WOOD inserts. This is a FINE car. If it is like all the other Toyotas Ive ever owned the only parts that will ever fail no this car will be the AMERICAN MADE PARTS!!!! My Vote is BUY THIS CAR!!!

I went in looking for a Toyota Highlander (own one) and came out with the Avalon. I purchased the ES model with only option being power seats . The dealership, price, But more importantly the Car sold me.

The wife and I spent several months debating between a Lexus GS 300 and the Avalon. Recently at a Annual Tent Sale we test drove the dealers 2003 Avalon, we both fell in love with the leather and interior design. Never got a chance to test drive the GS 300 because we were afraid of the sale price for an equivalent year and milage. This car is a joy to drive and most of all our two kids "love it."

  • A Pleasant Surprise - 2003 Toyota Avalon

After renting a 2002 Avalon for two weeks, and driving it for over 2500 miles, I was very impressed as to how this car rode at high speeds for hours, without making me tired. The seats are comfortable, the back seats are like sitting on a sofa, the interior is roomy and very quiet, and the stereo is excellent. I decided then to buy a 2003 Avalon XLS, and I have not been disappointed. For a relatively large car the handling is very nimble, with decent acceleration. Breaking is smooth and competent. The only complaint I have is a ticking relay noise that eminates from under the dashboard.

  • The Best Sedan for Anybody - 2003 Toyota Avalon

This is one of the best cars out there... It offers alot of things. It offers smoothness, reliability, a nice exterior/interior. It is very comfortable to sit in, front or back. Theres alot of space for anyone to sit in the back. When I am driving the 2003 Toyota Avalon (XL), I feel like I am driving a 2003 Lexus... I just love my Avalon.

Driving in comfort; lots of power and pick up, yet economical and affordable.

We test drove this vehicle and fell in love with it. Didnt even bother with two other models with which we were comparing. The ride was smooth and noise free....two things that were on our list of wants. Almost a year later and we still think its a great piece of machinery!
