This Year's Model Updates:

The Avalon has been redesigned for 2005 and now offers a more powerful V6 and even more room than before.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin befitting a Lexus, powerful and smooth V6 engine, superb ride quality, huge rear seat.
Cons:
  • Not as much fun to drive as a Chrysler 300, stability control can only be had on top-rung models.

  • never owned a toyota avalon before - 2005 Toyota Avalon

What first inpressed me was the new styling of the Avalon. I love the room the back seat has. You can stretch out your legs and feel comfortable, especially with the adjustable rear seat feature. The Avalon has all the bells and whistles you will need. The smart key system is a fantastic idea. I was impressed to no-end with the performance of the new engine and the gas milage rating was also exciting for such a powerful car. Overall, the styling and performance plus the comfort sold me as soon as I took it out for a test drive.

I never thought of buying an avalon until I saw the new style...The minute I got into I loved it....When I test drove it I knew I had to have one..The pick up is awesome...the interior is enormous...I cannot find one thing wrong with this car...When I compared it to the ES 300 I found this car was bigger, faster and all the features were similar....The price tag wasnt...Before you pay more for the Lexus check out this car...you will be surprised just like as I was....

This is my third Avalon and is the best car I have ever owned. Very comfortable and good gas mileage. This is a keeper and in my 74 years have owned a lot of cars

  • Excellent Car and Very Luxurious - 2005 Toyota Avalon

This car is very nice and beautiful. It has 280 Horsepower, which blows away the Nissan Maxima. The interior is very well set up and everything else that comes with the car is great.

  • Better Trade Than I Thought - 2005 Toyota Avalon

I traded down to an Avalon Limited from a BMW 330I. As it turns out it wasnt that far down. Im actually seeing more and more that this car has a lot going for it. Better gas mileage, no premium gas, its pretty quick and a good sound system.

  • AWESOME CAR - 2005 Toyota Avalon

The new 2005 Avalon is a great car. While driving many other name plate cars, this one beat them hands down with comfort and luxury! It is very quiet, and handles great. I get lots of looks with this car, as I find the styling to be great and eye-catching. It has many features to play with, and the stereo is great as well. The navigation is fun, and performs well. The new engine is as smooth as silk, and Im very pleased with the gas mileage. I am getting 22-23 in town driving. You cant beat that with 280 horses!

  • XLS Nice Ride - 2005 Toyota Avalon

I have about 500 miles on my new XLS. I have found it to be a very nice car. the ride is smooth and the fit and finish are excellent. I am still discovering new things on the car. This is my 3rd Avalon and I like this much better than my previous 2. Lots of power and gadgets. I am not impressed with the display on the XM radio. In addition the Nav cannot be adjusted or changed when the car is in motion. Overall it is a great, well made car. It should serve me well on the trips across PA to see the Grandkids

  • GREAT CAR - 2005 Toyota Avalon

Satsified a need to have room for my wife + two booster seats in the back, eliminating need for an suv/minivan which are inherently slow, relatively poor handling/braking, gas-guzzling, and less safe than sedan/wagon counterparts. The fun-to-drive rating of 7 would have been a 9 had I bought the Touring model, but Toyota doesnt allow Touring models to have the best safety feature out there - VSC/traction control, so I went with the softer-suspended XLS which has vsc option. The XLS is still a good-handling car, but lacks precision the way a firmer suspension would provide. Stereotypical Toyota qualities are inherent in this car, even if its in first year of the new-gen Avalon.

  • Poor Mans Lexus - 2005 Toyota Avalon

This isnt the Avalon we know from prior years. It is really an outstanding car. I cant imagine why anyone would spend the same to buy an ES Lexus as my Avalon Limited cost, nor why anyone would spend $12,000 to $14,000 more for a GS. It is superior to the ES in every way, and except for a couple things (Blue Tooth Tech for one), it is every bit the car the GS is and it has more interior space. All this and finally good looks too.
