Overview & Reviews
A midcycle refresh brings a six-speed automatic transmission (in place of last year's five-speed auto) and minor upgrades to the braking system. All 2008 Toyota Avalons have new headlamps, a revised front fascia and a more compact keyless remote, while the Limited gets chrome door handles. Inside, the wood-grain and metallic surface treatments are updated, while a nine-speaker audio system with an MP3-compatible CD changer and auxiliary audio jack is now standard on all models except the Limited. An eight-way power front passenger seat is included in the XLS and Limited, and the latter also comes with Bluetooth.
- Seats five adults in comfort, attractive cabin design with high-quality materials, composed and quiet ride, powerful and efficient V6, available upscale amenities, high crash-test scores.
- Expensive for its class, refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

love it - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By jkland - August 21 - 5:20 amWe have had our avalon touring model for 2.5 years... right now it has around 43k miles. The only issue has been teh headlights.. these were replaced under warrenty. The car has a sportier ride than the other models.. w/ tighter handling,, and doesnt have the floaty feeling. it is quite and smooth.. i havent had any issues with rattling. I also havent had any transmission issues or acceleration issues.. i know quite a few people with avalons,, and no one has had any issues with these things.. i really enjoy the car and as a family of 5 ( 2 are teenage boys) we can travel very comfortably and have a huge trunk.. dont miss the space of the minivan.. would highly recommend..

Warning on Toyota Period - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By d. smith - August 8 - 2:00 amThis is my 5th Avalon. I have enjoyed the comfort and mileage and I thought quality to this point. This model the 08 was involved in the acceleration recall and computer adjustment. But just this past week the light all of a sudden went totally out! Upon investigation its the classic HID light problem that is so abundant on the Prius. Apparently Toyota is well aware of the problem and the critical safety issues involved if you go to consumer reports, NHTSA, etc you may well be surprised of the cost involved with the HID light problems w/ avalons and most notably the Prius. This is a definite safety issue as the lights will fail with no warning. Very expensive repair stay away from them

Navigator - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By Don Cramer - July 15 - 10:26 amOverall I am very satisfied. I rate the navigator a 4. It is not user friendly and should be discarded and replaced with another. I would not have bought it if I had known. The Bluetooth set up is that you can only connect 1 phone at a time. You have to go into the phone set up and change it. The ride is quiet. The car is too new to get a an estimate on mpg.

Lexus under Toyota badging - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By JP - July 14 - 12:00 amWow! This cas has it all. Design, luxury, comfort, ergonomics, philharmonic sound system, safety, and ride quality. Mine is Blizzard Pearl, Ivory interior. Be sure to consider optional BBS wheels and rear deck lid spoiler for enhanced curb appeal. Little known Interior Light Package adds a very nice interior hue, at night. Only negative is low in-town mileage. Who cares. Buy one!

Everyone should have one! - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By MARIE - May 7 - 6:20 amWOW! I simply can not find anything I do not like about this car. Luxurious, stylish, spacious and safety features that are wonderful. If I won the lotto I would buy my four kids one each! Everyone who has sat in it has been impressed. Thank you Toyota, I feel very spoiled driving my Avalon!

WOW! - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By Skip - April 7 - 10:03 amAfter driving my 2007 Camry for 38,000 miles, it was time to get something a bit more comfortable. After having 3 Park Avenues (one of which I put 303,000 on), which are VERY comfortable cars, I was very unhappy with the Camry in the comfort area. I LOVE my Avalon Touring Sedan - so far. Comfortable, quiet, looks nice inside and out. Heck, Im thinking of up-grading to a Limited with all of the bells and whistles. :) Its very early and my MPG isnt all that great (21-23 +/-), but Ill gladly give up a bit of MPG for the rest of the package. Yes I WOULD tell anyone to purchase one.

Holding its value! - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By pj_flygare - March 28 - 4:08 amHow many times can you buy a car and two years later have equity for such? Bought this 2008 style two years ago @52k miles. Both HD light had to be replaced the first month. TOYOTA DIDNT COVERED THAT! BAD TOYOTA! USD 800 for parts and service! On the other hand MPG, amazing! City=28, Highway= 33. Right rear wheel bearing is making noises, about 400 dollar service. Paint is very soft, already have several rust spots on hood and side panels. Comfort amazing! Noise level inside, higher than my previous 1998 Volvo V70!? JBL sound system not to par, not good at all.

Overall good car but... - 2008 Toyota Avalon
By Kevin - February 17 - 1:56 pmI like the quiet ride. Seats are comfortable but with my long legs I would prefer for the seat to go back more. The GPS totally stinks, dont blow your money on it, I have a 200 dollar GPS for my other car that is WAY easier to use. The traction control should have a manual override button. I got stuck on the hill going up my driveway in an ice storm and needed a bit more wheel spin, the traction control did not allow it. I love the headlights for brightness but just found out that the replacement bulbs are $325 EACH and yes I did say $325 EACH. Both went out at once at 50,000 miles and neither the basic warranty or the extended warranty covers it.
