Overview & Reviews
The Avalon has been redesigned for 2005 and now offers a more powerful V6 and even more room than before.
- Carefully constructed cabin befitting a Lexus, powerful and smooth V6 engine, superb ride quality, huge rear seat.
- Not as much fun to drive as a Chrysler 300, stability control can only be had on top-rung models.

It Just Gets Better! - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By Jerry - June 18 - 3:16 amAfter 4000 miles I cant believe that I am still surprised at how little my Avalon cost. This is my first Toyota.

By Raj - May 30 - 7:26 amIve been driving my Avalon XLS for past 4 yrs. Already put 95,00 miles on it. It drives more than a Lexus,280 HP - decent power and great fuel efficiency (Ive got once close 32 mpg).

Great Car - few caveats - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By Deanie - March 31 - 8:30 amMy fist Avalon and the only highly reliable Japanese branded car with true seating for three across in the rear - which saved me from having to buy an SUV or Minivan (yeah!). Theres no better car within $5-7K of the Avalon. Great engine, fuel economy, comfortable ride, great brakes, great JBL stereo, virtually every safety feature in existence. But tranny ever so slightly hesitates between gears at low speeds (5-15mph)when stepping on the gas (not flooring it) to get up to 25-35mph in a hurry, though is smooth as silk at all other speeds/situations. Avalon compares favorably with or is notably better than many premium German sedans costing tens of thousands more - seriously!

Nice ride - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By RICH - March 29 - 4:46 pmSo far so good. Even my 15 yr old daughter and her friends love this car. I have the Limited. Great stereo. Almost as good as my TLs 5.1. The only problem I have is that the dual exhust dosent seem to match the other side. One is higher. One is set out more... Great ride....

2005 Avalon - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By W Nelson - March 16 - 9:33 pmI went from the Camry to Avalon in 1995 and this is my 5th Avalon. I have waited almost a year for this redesigned model. It is everything I expected and more, easily the best one yet. Exciting power, with such ease and the amenities are more than I expected. Inside and out, I am extremely pleased with this new model.

a home run - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By Captain - February 15 - 4:33 amThe Toyotas have always been big on quality but not so much on performance - not any more! Certainly not a BMW/G35, but very competent for such a large car. Drives much more like a Lexus. Uncommonly quick, smooth, and comfortable. Have been averaging 26 mpg overall and it will do 30+ highway - amazing. Looked at Maxima, TL, ES, G35/M and 300 and the only car that approached it was the M35 at $42K+. I cant imagine a better overall value at $30K. It will be interesting to see what Lexus does with this engine - how about a LS350 for $45-50K instead of 60+. Advice: stick with the Avalon, trim lines from high 20s to mid 30s.

Better than the Lexus - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By ascrrc - February 5 - 12:46 pmI went to buy a Lexus GS300, but the Lexus had less power, less head room and cost $15,000 more. My Avalon has been perfect. I especially like the ventilated seats. Also, the keyless ignition and locks make it very easy to get in the trunk when I have packages. You would think all the gadgets would be confusing, but they have a web site www.mytoyota.com that teaches you how to use them. Cons? The Navigation system is GREAT technology, but the manual was NOT originally written in English. I dare the President of Toyota USA to try to read it. Also, the main button on the Navigation is too easy to hit crooked, selecting the wrong thing. Should be redesigned. Small complaints. Great car.

Why buy a Lexus ? - 2005 Toyota Avalon
By Mimi Klier - January 29 - 12:56 pmI recently had a 2000 Avalon that I traded in for a 2005. I was told by the dealership to wait because they were comming out with an all new body style. Even though the 2005 was late by new car standards, it was worth the wait. I am very happy with the changes they made. The amentities on the Avalon for the price tag our outstanding and the design is much sleeker than in past models. I would recommend this car to anyone!
