Lots of room but too bumpy a ride.

  • Toyotas Best - 2000 Toyota 4Runner

This has been a very reliable and enjoyable car for us. Weve towed over 5000 lbs of payload... had to replace disk brakes, but no other problems. A very well made vehicle.

  • Great midsize SUV - 2000 Toyota 4Runner

The 2k Toyota 4Runner is a very capable SUV both on and off road. With rugged styling and truck toughness to match, this is a refreshinly capable truck in a world full of pavement queens. The last year of a manual transmission, 4 cylinder, as well as a selectable rear locker make this a good model, also for those who like driver control the VSC system was still optional. As a truck that does not compromise off-road ability for a cushy ride expect to feel bumps, but this stiffness also lends to its on road handling prowess.

  • Over 100,000 miles and no rattles - 2000 Toyota 4Runner

This is the most dependable vehicle Ive ever driven. When we evacuated NOLA during Hurricane Katrina, we left the vehicle parked in our driveway (we evacuated in my husbands newer model 4-Runner). Mine sat in over a foot of water for at least a week and was hit by flying debris (probably part of our roof). When I started it up three weeks later, the engine turned right over; I was one of the only people on my street who just got in the car and drove it away. Since then, weve dealt with canyon-sized NOLA pot- holes, street debris, and true off- road conditions every day. Not a problem. She has cosmetic battle scars, but not a single rattle. 113,000 miles and going strong.

  • Great SUV - 2000 Toyota 4Runner

We traded our 1994 4Runner for this 2000 Runner. It was in the dealers inventory for several months and seemed to not sell because of the color (Dark Green). We waited until the price dropped and eventually got a great deal. It is a significant upgrade from our 94 in that it has a more advanced 4 wheel drive system, a stronger, quieter engine plus improved creature features.

  • Toyota Strong - 2000 Toyota 4Runner

This Toyota stands strong to the name it represents. The heritage of Toyota quality is passed on to this automobile. The five-speed manual transmission with the V6 is a fuel friendly, aggressive combination capable of handling suburban traffic entrapments and natures liberating climbs. The interior comprises an appealing approach to functionality and resourcefulness. This model and year is sure to please the toughest of critics.

  • Best vehicle I have ever owned! - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I purchased my 2000 4Runner in 2009. At the time it had 100,000 miles on it. Now, at 148,000 miles it is still running strong. Other than routine maintenance and a couple of small repairs, I have had nothing go wrong. I use this truck to haul a boat, as a daily commuting vehicle and it has never failed me. The styling is timeless and, although the ride is a bit rough at times, it is comfortable and very quite. I get about 17-18 mpg around town and 20-21 on the highway - not bad for a SUV. My only gripe is the small gas tank. I can only get about 225-240 miles between fill-ups.

  • Great SUV with a few mods - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I was concerned about power so I add the TRD headers and exhaust, Amsoil air filter. These mods along with the 5 speed give it plenty of power and torque. The addition of OME heavy duty shocks and springs, slightly larger tires, and front sway bar quick disconnects create a serious cabable off road machine. Reliablilty is great. I think the air filter and headers may have improved my gas milage. I would highly recommend this SUV to anyone seeking a serious SUV. It rides like a truck. The truck underpinnings contribute to its off road reliablity. There is reason the UN and other aid agencies use Toyotas and Land Rovers in the most remote parts of the world.

  • Runs better than a Timex! - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Ive owned my 4Runner for 7yrs. I have 193,000 miles on it with no reason to believe I wont get another 100,000. It has only been in the shop for normal maintenance and a check engine light that keeps coming on for a few weeks and then goes off. Cant find the reason so Im not worrying about it. I dont like how it drives in the snow. 4WD gets me up my steep driveway but doesnt help me stop on slippery roads. Getting about 16 mpg and the small tank means Im always at the gas station. Very comfortable on long drives and cargo space galore. My dogs love the electric rear window and so do I. Its the main reason I bought it. Hardly any rust either. Great SUV! Not too big -- not too small.

  • Bought it new and still love it - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

We have over 175000 miles on and off paved roads including many miles of Los Angeles freeway stop and go driving. Replaced the brake pads/rotors ONCE and have had another $350 repair at about 150K. About the same time the antenna motor stopped working. Thats it besides regular service. We will have to replace the clutch at some point but thats because Im hard on them.
