This Year's Model Updates:

All 2003 Pathfinders will offer optional satellite radio, with a choice of XM or Sirius services. The LE model receives a standard leather-appointed interior, while SE models feature restyled wheels. Both models also feature a new four-spoke steering wheel and electronic rear-hatch window release. For safety, there is a new Vehicle Dynamic Control Package that bundles Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Two items no longer offered are the manual transmission and the optional navigation system. Guess you have to buy a map.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, carlike interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available All-Mode 4WD system on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

  • Completely Satisfied! - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

I am completely satisfied with my brand new 03 Pathfinder LE. I waited to write this review until I went on a recent 1200 mile trip to the mountains to see more of this cars performance in tough conditions. One word, Excellent. Safe, solid, comfortable and fun to drive. Though the mileage is poor it is improving all the time. It definitely lacks some of the nice little features that the JGC I previously owned had like the trip computer and powerlumbar support but who cares when you are getting such a solid reliability and comfort in exchange. I just love the car, period.

Terrible gas mileage - runs better and more efficiently on high test (uggh!); terrible in snow with or without 4WD engaged; little cargo room in back; seat areas are cramped - particularly in cockpit; still nicer appearance, fit & finish than 06 model; great overall build, but will never purchase another - price tag and costs of ownership (gas, insurance) just arent worth it - - I can drive a GM or FORD for less (and better MPG) and still be quite pleased

After weeks of research and price comparison, I have found the Nissan Pathfinder to be the best bet. I got an awesome deal through AAA. The car is beautiful..got the black model with gray interior, its gorgeous and fun and FAST!

  • Power and comfort in an suv - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Just completed a 800 mile trip and the Pathfinder was great! Had excellent power in the mountains of WV and still returned over 20mpg. DealerJohn Sisson motors couldnt have been better either.

  • Impressive - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Best in class, great power, sturdy, not too big, not too small (will actually fit with another car in a two car garage).

  • Overall a Good SUV - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

A lot of the traction problems are from sub-par tires. Changed the tires to Yokohama Geolanders and most of the traction problems went away. Rear cargo space may be a little small and the rear seats are a little difficult to put down, but overall a great value.

  • best in class - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

I bought this car used (a year old) with 25k on it and have not been disappointed at all. Great power, easy handling, and abundant interior comfort make this a great mid-size SUV. Great site-lines as well as an excellent stereo system make driving both easy and enjoyable. The mpg (about 16- 18/gal) could be better but is pretty standard for this class.

  • Roof Rack Whistles - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

The roof rack whistles at around 30-40 miles per hour and apparently there is no cure for it.

  • Very good vehicle - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

I originally had a used 2000 Pathfinder and put over 170K miles on it and never had a problem with it. I traded it in (only because I wanted something newer and sportier) on a 2004 Maxima which turned out to be a piece of crap car! I went back to a Pathfinder this time buying a used 2003 Pathfinder and love it so far. The only real issue so far has been a cosmetic one; I believe the paint quality is poor. Keep in mind it has 130k on it but Ive never had a vehicles paint chip like this one does. Besides that, I have no complaints other than of course the sh-tty gas mileage but fortunately it does not require premium unleaded.
