This Year's Model Updates:

This year the SE Comfort Package adds a six-disc CD changer, and leather seating is optional on Off-Road and SE trims. Satellite radio is now available.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, above-average off-road ability, well-laid-out interior, flexible seating design, ample storage space throughout.
Cons:
  • Tight rear-seat quarters for adults, on-road handling not as refined as competitors, too much hard plastic inside, inconsistent fit and finish.

  • Great Choice!! - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

I looked for about 2 months before finally buying the Pathfinder. Ive always had a sports car, so this jump to a mid size SUV was questionable in my search. I have so much more room. Im so glad I jumped to the SUV!

I have had my Pathfinder since last August and have tallied 6400 miles so far. It has all the options (leather, all airbags, sunroof, etc.) you can get on an SE accept the DVD and Navigation. Highway ride is excellent and quiet but jittery over bumps. Off- road ride on gravel and pitted roads is sure-footed and controlled. Only one trip to dealer for malfunctioning stability control sensor, replaced under warranty. Fit in finish inside is tight with no rattles or gaps. Plenty of room to haul lots of stuff when all seats are folded flat, including large dog crate and hunting equipment. Child safety seats easy to install, although middle position has no LATCH. Overall, very satisfied.

  • Excellent SUV - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Having had a top of the line 2000 Pathfinder our new Pathfinder, with all the bells and whistles, has been a true joy. We now have two young grandchildren and they love to ride,in the spacious back seat where , have they can easily see out the windows, have their own heat or air, and watch their favorite videos. The dogs are quite content to sit in the third seat or to have the whole cargo area.

  • Best you can buy for the money - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Forget for a moment that this SUV just looks cool, forget that you can get a completely loaded LE for about 5k less than a 4Runner w/o DVD and NAV. And just focus on the fact that this machine is fun to drive. I traded in my G35 for something that would handle better and the snow. I thought I would be giving up comfort and performance but that was not the case. This SUV has incredible pick up for a standard engine, very comfortable seats and loads of features (STANDARD!!!) With so much to chose from I was becoming overloaded with info, but when it came down to it - Price, Quality, Performance and Design all came in one package - the Pathfinder. Im thrilled with this purchase.

  • Best suv of the year - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Its one of the most fun rides, its so qute insde with the new noise reduction sealing arround the doors and windows. Its so close to the infiniti designed suvs. And its rated one of the best full size suv economy in gas consumbtion of its size. With the high octean gas i get 20 city miles and 24 hwy miles. Takes 7 passengers including 2 kids in the 3rd row seats. The best feature is the vdc option which i recomended cause it makes curves like normal road.

  • Not perfect . . . but close - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Looked at every midsize SUV in this price range, and it came down to the Pathfinder LE 4x4 or 4Runner Sport. Close call, but the Pathfinder won - seats are much more comfortable, dashboard ergonomics are FAR superior, side airbags are standard. (Side airbags are NOT available in the 4Runner Sport w/leather; if you want both you have to move up to the 4Runner LTD.) My previous SUVs were an 84 Bronco and 93 Explorer - this Pathfinder trumps both. In my "hill country suburban" driving, Ive gotten just under 18 mpg in my first 1100 miles on regular - about 2 mpg better than I got with my smaller, less- powerful Explorer. Plus, the Pathfinder has more US content (60%) than the 4Runner (5%).

  • Smooth Sailing SUV - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

I used to hear of SUV as being cumbersome and consuming. But, our Nissan Pathfinder 2006 is none of that. It is very comfortable and rolls with ease. Above all our kids are always shrieking with joy whenever its time to go out with the SUV..because it has so much space for them to pull hairs and hide! I have never regretted it, more so its ability to consume as little gas as an Xterra but more satisfying for me, my spouse and our entire family

I traded a 2001 xtera which was also a fine truck. The pathfinder was a little noisy until I put good tires on it and the noise level dropped quite a bit. My se is very tight fitting, solid on door closing I find the front seats very comfortable and my wife likes the electronic pedal adjustment. We tow a 23" boat with no problem. 45,000 miles and not one problem. Over all the best truck I have owned.

  • Dont listen to the experts - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Major manufacturers pay to have their name on the front cover of any magazine as "the truck of the year". You will not be disappointed with this vehicle. Totally refined inside and out, lots of power and will eat for breakfast a 4runner and a hummer will only see dust in their windshield. The only advice is to try one out for yourself and compare to others. Do not listen to the so-called expert.

  • Pathfinder Fun - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Replaced a Dodge Durango with a Pathfinder. I enjoy having the same seating capacity as the Durango and a 4000 pound tow capacity in a vehicle that gets better gas mileage. Durango V8 was terrible on gas (under 13 mpg). The Pathfinder V6 is much better so far (averaging over 17 city but only have 900 miles on it to date. Also, I live in Arizona and the Durango air conditioning would not keep up. The Pathfinder has excellent air conditioning capacity. I find the handling and ride very similar in both vehicles. Pathfinder is a much quiter vehicle even though I have found more "plastic" in this vehicle as compared to the Durango.
