This Year's Model Updates:

This year the SE Comfort Package adds a six-disc CD changer, and leather seating is optional on Off-Road and SE trims. Satellite radio is now available.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, above-average off-road ability, well-laid-out interior, flexible seating design, ample storage space throughout.
Cons:
  • Tight rear-seat quarters for adults, on-road handling not as refined as competitors, too much hard plastic inside, inconsistent fit and finish.

  • another great SUV - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Just two weeks off the lot, I took 5 passengers (2 kids) up the grapevine to the CA central valley. My MPG? 20.2! Noticeable drops in crowded fwys, but still between 16.6 and 17.4! My old 98 Pathfinder ranged between 13 and 15 putting out just 168 horses. 06 is not as agile as the previous unibody design, but more than fair trade for more power, more efficiency, more flexibility, more luxury, more safety, and more seating. Right before I bought, I test-drove the Pilot and was underwhelmed -- it wasnt even a better drive than my 98. Its leather interior looked like old Buick vinyl and its sunroof would better suit the Civic. My first right turn in the Pathfinder was all I needed.

I enjoy driving my pathfinder. I wouldnt trade it for any other SUV. Having looked and owned other SUVs in the past I prefer the pathfinder over Ford, Chev, and Toyo SUVs the ability to access to the 3 row seat is great and the space and comfort of the 2 row seat is great. Interior is easy to clean and the teflon in the rear interior was the best idea for pets and sport equipment. Keeps me from worrying about keeping the interior clean.

I love this suv. Perfect size. Love the third row seat that folds flat--there when you need it.

Had my Pathfinder for a year now. The cabin is roomier widthwise than the 4- Runner and being a big guy that is why I chose it plus the styling is cooler. Dont know why edmunds said it doesnt handle as well. Great cruiser for long trips. Who cares that the 3rd row is tight for adults, it is either going to be down, or used for kids. If you need to haul 7 adults frequently, buy a van.

  • Overall good Pathfinder - 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Well built vehicle, but very cramped in back seat for anyone over 4 1/2 feet tall. MPG has been a constant 20 and 21 since we got. Very Quiet vehicle. slightly shorter than XTERRA, and not as rugged. Hits my head as I am getting in any door.

Previously i owned Murano04 and liked a lot. All of a sudden decided to replaced with another SUV and drove some mid-size ones. As soon i step out of the Nissan i decided to take it. So fast, so comfy so so so... The fuel consumption is not a problem related to the power and the acceleration this vehicle has. Next on might be Armada:)))

In the past 8 years I have owned 2 vehicles, 1 - 1997 Jeep Wrangler and 1 - 1999 Nissan Maxima. I liked the 4x4 capability of the Jeep (which I need in Colorado) and the pickup and go / gas mileage and reliability of the Nissan. The 06 Pathfinder is the best of both worlds with style and function all in one. I bought a 2006 SE Off- road edition with less than 200 miles on it and now at just under 2000 miles I have experienced between 17.5 mpg and 19.6 mpg. I go up to Fairplay, CO from Denver at least 3 times a month and to the ski resorts about 2 times a month and get great gas mileage both up & down the mountain and in 4x4 drive. In the city I experience lower gas milage @ 17.5 mpg per tank.

This is the best SUV Ive driven. I have owned 3 Ford Explorers and will never go back. Before buying I test drove the 4-Runner, but it was a lot rougher.
