This Year's Model Updates:

All 2003 Pathfinders will offer optional satellite radio, with a choice of XM or Sirius services. The LE model receives a standard leather-appointed interior, while SE models feature restyled wheels. Both models also feature a new four-spoke steering wheel and electronic rear-hatch window release. For safety, there is a new Vehicle Dynamic Control Package that bundles Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Two items no longer offered are the manual transmission and the optional navigation system. Guess you have to buy a map.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, carlike interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available All-Mode 4WD system on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

  • Gotta Drive a Pathfinder - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

If you havent yet driven a Pathfinder you are missing out. The vehicle has excellent power, is very comfortable, etc... The 100+ Watt BOSE stereo system is amazing. After I installed a small subwoofer, I was blown away by how great it sounded. The gas mileage sucks although. I only get about 15 MPG on average.

Terrible gas mileage - runs better and more efficiently on high test (uggh!); terrible in snow with or without 4WD engaged; little cargo room in back; seat areas are cramped - particularly in cockpit; still nicer appearance, fit & finish than 06 model; great overall build, but will never purchase another - price tag and costs of ownership (gas, insurance) just arent worth it - - I can drive a GM or FORD for less (and better MPG) and still be quite pleased

  • Very Happy, Great SUV - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

After weeks of research and price comparison, I have found the Nissan Pathfinder to be the best bet. I got an awesome deal through AAA. The car is beautiful..got the black model with gray interior, its gorgeous and fun and FAST!

  • Overall a Good SUV - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

A lot of the traction problems are from sub-par tires. Changed the tires to Yokohama Geolanders and most of the traction problems went away. Rear cargo space may be a little small and the rear seats are a little difficult to put down, but overall a great value.

  • Roof Rack Whistles - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

The roof rack whistles at around 30-40 miles per hour and apparently there is no cure for it.

I originally had a used 2000 Pathfinder and put over 170K miles on it and never had a problem with it. I traded it in (only because I wanted something newer and sportier) on a 2004 Maxima which turned out to be a piece of crap car! I went back to a Pathfinder this time buying a used 2003 Pathfinder and love it so far. The only real issue so far has been a cosmetic one; I believe the paint quality is poor. Keep in mind it has 130k on it but Ive never had a vehicles paint chip like this one does. Besides that, I have no complaints other than of course the sh-tty gas mileage but fortunately it does not require premium unleaded.

Finally an SUV with luxury options at an affordable price. 5 star safety is a welcomed bonus. love my Nissan, glad to rid my Jeep.

  • My opinion - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

A little noisy compared to Infinity SUV, not as soft ride as Infinity, even though they are suppose to be opn same platform.

  • Good choice of mid-SUV - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

This is a solid vehicle, that looks better, performs better, and holds more stuff than many of its peers. I looked at nearly a dozen comparable SUVs and felt that this was the best across the board value, and I still feel that way 2+ years later. I owned a Mustang GT but needed an SUV, wanted a Pathfinder but couldnt afford it, bought the wrong one and finally got a Pathfinder 2 years later. It was worth the wait. Acceleration, braking and handling are all very good. The styling, especially in the interior is pleasing to your eyes without being dominant and eye- distracting. There are enough cubbies and cupholders to meet your needs, and the seats are quite comfortable. Really good vehicle.

very rough suspension...almost like driving a sports car...good acceleration but poor suspension...very bumpy.
