This Year's Model Updates:

All 2003 Pathfinders will offer optional satellite radio, with a choice of XM or Sirius services. The LE model receives a standard leather-appointed interior, while SE models feature restyled wheels. Both models also feature a new four-spoke steering wheel and electronic rear-hatch window release. For safety, there is a new Vehicle Dynamic Control Package that bundles Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Two items no longer offered are the manual transmission and the optional navigation system. Guess you have to buy a map.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, carlike interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available All-Mode 4WD system on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

Ive always loved the pathfinders since seeing the first one back in the late 80s. my wife and i needed an suv but without the nightmares we had when we owned a jeep. We purchased a 2003 SE with 54K on it. As of today 5/25/11, it has 124,000 miles on it. Gas mileage SUCKS. id be lucky to get 17mpg mixed overall, but the vehicle weights over 5000 lbs. Aside form routine maintenance, and a few ware/tare part replacements, the vehicle has been a sound performer. Its not big, but its comfortable to drive. Its been through hell and back the past 4 years, but it keeps on ticking.

  • Not like the 93 - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Should have 4 wheel dics brakes! Lose the drum brakes. My 93 stopped much better. Head rest move to freely. No back hatch release.

This is my first suv,and this truck is very well rounded. It has a good solid ride, and it handles well. The build quality is very good, and it has lots of comfort.the cloth is very high quality and even though the driver seat is not power,it has a lot of adjustment options.Stereo/cd sounds good ,but could use a subwoofer.Heater is a little weak on floor setting.

97 SE to a 03 LE. The added horsepower is great. Truck is 2 weeks and it needs a new power sunroof motor. Otherwise, the overall design and features of the LE model are well worth the price, invoice that is. Gas mileage could use some improvement but its an SUV what did you expect. Our final decision came down to the Pathfinder vs. the Lincoln Aviator. The Aviator had all the bells and whistles, but its still a Ford product and resale value compared to a Nissan will make you realize that eventually. I would definitely recommend this truck if you are looking for a reliable vehicle thats fun to drive and holds its value.

  • Solid Truck! - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

No major complaints, this is a very solid truck, superior build quality for its class and even for luxury SUVS. Excellent power...was looking into a V8 Explorer or a V8 Grand Cherokee, but went with the Pathfinder because it felt just as powerful. I wish I boought the LE.

  • The Best Yet - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

I drove the Pilot,4runner,Envoy and the pathfinder- the interior of the pilot was wider and the price was a bit less but the inside was plain and didnt ofer as many features as the pathfinder- the 4 runner was too expensive. The interior ROCKS compared to the rest- I love being able to control my stereo from the steering wheel! Heated seats are the best,The stereo is good compared to most factory radios(6 dash cd ) The leather seats are comfy, Sunroof is a nice option to have included (Not an option on the honda pilot) The ride is quiet, Gas mileage Stinks.

  • New Pathfinder Owner - First Impressions - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Since the deals are so good out there right now, I looked into buying a new SUV to replace my 1996 Ford Explorer. I test drove the Highlander, Explorer, Tribute, 4 Runner and Xterra before deciding on the 2003 Pathfinder. This vehicle isnt perfect, but its a very nice combination of reliability, price, styling, handling and features. It rode better than any vehicle except perhaps the Highlander, but I found it more comfortable (no captains chairs arms) and with many more small nice features such as lighted vanity mirrors, fog lights, compass and opening rear window. My model is loaded, mainly due to the Nissan packages required to get side airbags.

  • needs traction control - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

This SUV needs traction control.Spun tires an intersections with the front half of the vehicle in the way of oncoming traffic many times. Also doesnt handle well on wet roads. Was very fast but almost too fast for what it was (a light rear wheel drive truck) Used the 4WD in the rain. Enjoyed the truck at times and thought it was fun and sporty to drive but didnt feel secure in it. Didnt hold the road well. Also not roomy enough for our small family of 3 plus dog. Gas mileage wasnt great either for such a small truck. Just got rid of it after 7 months and moved on to an 02 Explorer. Much different ride. Wont miss the Pathfinder.
