This Year's Model Updates:

All 2003 Pathfinders will offer optional satellite radio, with a choice of XM or Sirius services. The LE model receives a standard leather-appointed interior, while SE models feature restyled wheels. Both models also feature a new four-spoke steering wheel and electronic rear-hatch window release. For safety, there is a new Vehicle Dynamic Control Package that bundles Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Two items no longer offered are the manual transmission and the optional navigation system. Guess you have to buy a map.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, carlike interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available All-Mode 4WD system on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

  • Smooth ride, but could use more room - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

I will say that this SUV has a great car like ride. Better MPG than my previous Grand Cherokee. Not as roomy as the Grand Cherokee though, and not enough interior storage compartments for misc. things.

My wife and I drove every available SUV, large and small, and the Pathfinder was, by far, the best value for the dollar. Our LE was fully loaded and was only $32k. Thats a steal when compared to every other SUV on the market. Plus, it has good acceleration for a 5000lb SUV with a V6 and its tight steering makes getting around Washington and Baltimore a breeze. By far the best SUV available today with all things considered.

  • good all around vehicle - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

purchased the pathfinder after owning a maxima, power is excellent, needs better standard tires, fuel mileage is very low, heat can use some improvements, takes a good 20 minutes to warm up, by this time i am already at work. Stereo is excellent, agree that cd player skips in cold, needs more storage space, no place to put loose change. Braking is good, traction good is 4X4, however rear tires like to slide on wet pavement. Roof rack can be changed, can never get the snow off of it. All around, much better then my parents blazer and explorer, tops the cherokee..

Ive had this car on lease for the past 3 years..now I am faced with the difficult choice of buying it out, or getting a new car. Always got me where I needed to go. GREAT for packing anything and everything into. Drives like a car not a truck.

  • Built to Last - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

When it came time for our family to buy an SUV, we looked at all of the options. We narrowed our choices to the Lexus RX300, Acura MDX,Infiniti QX4, and the Pathfinder. All had similar engines and cargo space, so my decision was based on reliability and value. The Pathfinder had all of the options that the competition had, except for the MDXs 3rd seat. I interviewed other owners and they both had many great things to say of the Pathfinder. However, they had the older engine that wasnt up to the task of the mountain passes here in Colorado. Nissan has fixed that with the new 3.5L VQ engine that makes 240 hp.

  • beats them all! - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

the edmunds research was dead on. we test drove all the mid-size suvs on the market. this one beats them all in design, quality, ride, sound system, braking, acceleration, reliability, comfort - you name it. dont bother with anything else. this is a truck you will be able to drive for a long long time.

  • I love the Pathfinder - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

The Pathfinder rides like a car. I absolutely love it. The BOSE stereo sounds great. Its got plenty of pick up and looks good on the road. The automatic controls on the steering wheel for cruise and for the stereo are easy to use and conveniently located. By far the best car Ive ever owned.

The sound system in this vehicle is one of the worst Ive ever heard. I had a better one in my 1972 Pontiac!!!

  • Dont believe the bad safety review! - 2003 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

I dont understand why this car got such bad safety ratings. I was just in a high speed crash in my brand new Pathfinder thanks to some jerk in a Mercedes who didnt yield. Well, bad ratings aside I walked away with nothing more than a headache and a fat lip from the airbag. He rode off in the ambulance. Needless to say Ill purchasing another Pathfinder when the insurance check comes through.
