Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Reliable SUV, most bang for the buck! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I bought the murano because it is on car frames instead of truck, has fulltime AWD with good gas milage and buttery smooth CVT transmission just like the one used in AUDI A4! Driving a roadster before, I am surprise that MURANO can match the vehicle dynamic of a my BMW Z3! Murano has been very reliable (for 2 yrs). Could not justify myself buying RX330 for $10K more. Nissan VQ engine has been proven reliable, do not hesitate. Murano is a vehicle for the most bang for your hard earn money!

I traded my Mercedes ML320 (after a final $4000 repair bill) for something more dependable, and the Murano was my choice - and one I havent regretted so far. The Mighty Mo has rapid accelleration, sports car handling, a decent AWD system, and good all-around gas mileage (I see 21 city/hwy), all wrapped in a dependable Japanese package. While the AWD system isnt as responsive as the system in the Mercedes, it has done a good job of getting me around in bad weather. All around, a great vehicle with a cavernous interior. Very pleased, and would buy another.

Excellent design - exterior and interior. Just the right size. Perfect for urban parking and utility needs. Sound system with sub-woofer is excellent. Ergonomics all around are very good. Everybody loves the car.

  • Finally a car my husbands comfortable in - 2004 Nissan Murano

My husband is 64" and we have looked at tons of cars/suvs and the Murano is by far the best in providing height and comfort for the tall people of the world. We believe we got a great car for "US" its different in its look, fun to drive and has enough of the bells and whistles on it to keep us happy, though if I was buying a car for "Myself" I would have bought the 350z convertible!!! P.S. I just traded in a 3 year old convertible for the Murano, as my husband puts it, "Youre now a married woman". FINDING HIM WAS WORTH GIVING UP THE SPORTS CAR!!!!

  • I LOVE MY MURANO - 2004 Nissan Murano

I have never been happier with a new car! The only down side to it is its low gas mileage. But Ill live with that! I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • ALTERNATOR - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

The alternator on our Murano was replaced by the dealer. The car had 10000 miles. I dont think ours was the 1st car to have this trouble. Sounds like a design problem with the alternators on the Muranos. Pretty scarey on a new car in this day and age.

  • Best value crossover SUV - 2009 Nissan Murano

I own SL AWD for almost 3 weeks now and was able to test it in some heavy snow conditions here in WI and what can I say - just AMAZING! I liked the previous 07 Murano in the past and was waiting for redesign for about a year and Nissan did not disappoint me. I like the handling of this car a lot. I havent driven BMW X5 which considered to be one of the best sportier handling SUVs, but Murano handles very well and secure, body lean is very little and steering and break feel is great. Interior space is just perfect for me, even it is a little smaller then 07 model. Exterior is still growing on me and I think in a year or so everybody will be talking how good looking this car is.
