This Year's Model Updates:

Wow, what a beauty. The redesigned Maxima bows with an aerodynamic shape and a lengthened wheelbase. The new Maxima is available as a budget-minded GXE, sporty SE or luxurious GLE. All Maximas get the 190-horsepower engine previously exclusive to the SE.

My 1995 Nissan Maxima is the best car I have ever owned. I havent had a single problem with it since I bought it new in 1995. I am almost afraid to part with it and purchase a different dealer brand or even model. What more can i say. WOW thanks Nissan for such a GREAT car!

This is the car to go for, if you need low prive and reliability. I just had the 120K miles service (as recommended by Nissan Manual) and it was all 320$. I have never had a single problem with this car - the engine is powerful , it has enough comfort for a commute car and it goes 23 mpg on the freeway - a good value given the 6 cylinders.

This Maxima has brought me nothing but joy. Reliable with the minor exception of a left front CV boot which the dealer replaced for free when I bought it. Other than that nothing! Ive changed the oil every 3000 miles and it performs almost as new! G-teched 0- 60=6.9 at 91000 miles! Great ride. Long wheelbase=great comfort, especially on long trips. Turns that belies its size. Problem- mid-corner bumps at high speed causes rear hop due to rear torsion beam suspension. Comfy in front/back for 5. Averaged 26mpg/50% city/2 years. Problem-"requires" 91 octane. I highly recommend it as a stress free, fun car... good luck!

Ive only had the car for 5 months but it has performed very well for me. The gas mileage is pretty mediocre and I did some preventative maintenance by replacing the starter even though it hadnt broken down yet. Other than that, its been exactly what I expected it to be. No surprises - which is pretty good for a car that cost me less than $7k.

The silky smooth V6 is superb; it throws you to the back of the car once you floor it. The leather interior is graciously crafted alongside with the woodgrain that gives it a luxury type look. Ive driven this car all over Texas picking up loads of friends; they all seem to have given me great compliments on my car like "Man, your parents bought you a really nice car", "Your car takes off!", "Is your car on? (because its so quiet and still)", and "Your Bose system is awesome!" Nissan has done an all around great job on this powerful sedan. I think Im going to keep this car until it stops running.

  • Overall, an excellent car. - 1995 Nissan Maxima

This car is the first Ive owned and is great. It performs and handles well. It is a fairly unique car in the marketplace--it doesnt exhibit the luxury of a Lexus ES or Acura Legend of the same era, but is cheaper and offers equal, if not superior, performance. Its an ideal enthusiast car on a budget. Ive had to replace the left control arm bushing and both of my rear power windows are inoperable (one is the arm assembly, one is the motor). Other than these minor problems (in addition to brakes and clutch replacement) the car has been very reliable, requiring only routine maintainance. The performance of the VQ engine is very smooth and rewarding, but carries a penalty in gas milage.

  • A Best Buy - 1995 Nissan Maxima

My 95 Maxima GXE has been a terrific buy from day 1. I almost purchased an Accord or Camry, and now am happy I spent more for the Maxima. It has been reliable and has had no out of the ordinary problems happen to it. Also, it is a stylish car that has a certain charm to it. People are impressed with the car even though its almost 8 years old. Plus, it feels like a sports car, but handles itself like a sturdy vehicle.

  • FUN!!! - 1995 Nissan Maxima

Love my Maxima! This was the first maxima I had ever driven. After the test drive, I was convinced. The 3.0 L V6 is phenomenal! So smooth, and so torquey! With the manual tranny, this car is a blast to drive. I felt the suspension is a bit soft and allowed too much body roll, so when my struts went 94k miles, I went with aftermarket struts/springs, and now it handles like a dream. Really fun car with plenty of room for the family!

  • Great Machine - 1995 Nissan Maxima

This is my second Maxima, I also owned a 1991, which I drove to its death at 250,000 miles. I also own a 2003 with 102,000 miles. This 1995 currently has 175,000. It is a fabulous machine to drive, I had some replacements problems by having to replace alternator, starter, CV axles, a couple of fuel injectors, infamous knock sensor and the coolant temp sensor apart from regular brake, tune up, oil changes. I think the tricky thing is when the one of the fuel injectors starts acting up, the car/computer thinks the knock sensor and the temp sensor is bad, which was not the case with my and actually one of the injector was going bad. Parts are expensive but a reliable car.

  • Commuter that fails to be boring... - 1995 Nissan Maxima

After 2 years of ownership, this cars design still looks fresh and not aged. Especially lively this car is with 5 speed transmission, which I was lucky to locate. Just downshift and its famously smooth and juicy VQ30DE V6 engine (rated best V6 for past 10 years) still performs on par with modern V6s. With 136K miles presently, maintenance covers way more parts, like tensioners, sensors, power coils. Yet I never had big issues except broken throw-out bearing that left me stranded 60 miles away from home and a failed injector. However, for its miles this car still holds very solid and I am sure I will easily pass 200K mark still on original transmission and with some minor repairs!
