Wow, what a beauty. The redesigned Maxima bows with an aerodynamic shape and a lengthened wheelbase. The new Maxima is available as a budget-minded GXE, sporty SE or luxurious GLE. All Maximas get the 190-horsepower engine previously exclusive to the SE.

If you want a car that can beat any other stock car at any stop light this is the one for you. It can do it with the most comfortable interior, five speed trans(optional) and a 190hp V6 that comes standard. The only shortcoming of this car towards the camry and accord is the suspension. Its a little stiff, but it makes that up in the turns. This huge thing can take any tight corner with ease, and as every street racer knows stiffer suspension means more grip in turns. Ive driven the carmy and accord, those boats have nothing , no power, no acceleration, no handling, just a luxirious interior that makes the car seem more than it really is.

I purchased this baby last month. I paid $2,000 and has spent about $1,500 on repairs. Ive replaced the radiator, drive belts, valve cover gaskets, one fuel injector, two ignition coils, and all six spark plugs. All failed parts were originals. Avoid the dealership for repairs because its extremely expensive. The car drives and handles like a charm. The body is solid and paint still shines. It has power and acceleration that throws you back in your seat. The volume control on radio doesnt work, so it gradually gets louder. A cassette tape is also stuck inside. Its a 5-speed. The original clutch was replaced two years ago. Car has 158,000 miles. Good for at least 150,000 more.

  • Incredible car. - 1995 Nissan Maxima

I purchased this 1995 Maxima SE last month. Coming from a 1988 ford tempo, the 3.0 V6 engine with its impressive 190 horses was especially pleasing. Ive gotten to 100 mph at 5600 RPMs in 3rd gear. There is no question, this is the best V6 in any family car model of 1995. The only downside Ive had so far is the almost uncontainable urge to give the tremendously responsive V6 more than a tiny hint of pressure on the gas pedal and take off like a fighter jet in the middle of a busy street. Excellent features, attractive rear spoiler. Suspension is annoyingly stiff on bumpy straightaways, but it pleasingly effective on turns.

  • A drivers car with comfort and class. - 1995 Nissan Maxima

Ive owned Jaguars, Camrys, Mustang GTs, and 240s (both Z & SX), and I have trouble thinking how the Maxima could be better designed. It delivers absolutely wonderful performance for a sedan, with a nearly perfect balance of handling and ride comfort. The cabin is a joy for the driver, while still being quite pleasant for passengers on long trips. I bought my 95 GLE in late 99 with 39K on it, have 76K on it now, and expect to drive it for at least another 50K, at which point Ill look for another used Maxima.

  • 1995 strong after 20 years - 1995 Nissan Maxima

I had my 95 maxima for 4 years. Bought from a dealer at incrredible 65K miles in prestine condition. This is my 5th datsun-nissan. Just change oil regularly at 5k. Need to replace consumables. Other than that, no major repair needed. Spends aboout $300 for repair/maint. On my previous 94 maxima, I drove about 300K+ odometer stopped at 230K. I drove 4 more years until the tranny gave up. Gas mileage is about 20 mpg on city+highway mix.

At 137k this car is running strong, smooth and reliably. Every component works as it should. The car also has great structural integrity. not a single squeak or rattle. This Nissan is superior to similar age Accord in every aspect including fuel mileage. I owned both. The Maxima outguns the Accord -- period. I just installed a set of 17" wheels from an 05 for style. This car is worth the investment. I havent had to spend much -- front struts and an anti-knock sensor. I plan on another 100,000 fun, trouble free miles with this Maxima. Parts and accessories are readily available. I recommend a new or used Maxima to anyone looking for a good handling, strong running sedan.

I bought this car from a private party in 1998. It has a lot of power, looks attractive, is comfortable to drive. Fuel economy is good. It was a good choice then and it continues to have a timeless appearance to it. Everyone is always surprised to learn that it is a 1995 vehicle.

We bought this car in 1998 and it has 46,000 miles on it. We drove it until April 2012 when it had 265,000 miles on it. Very little maintenance on this car. It would get 34 MPG on the Interstate and around 26 MPG local. We sold it to a friend and it is still running. Best car we have ever owned. Way to go Nissan. I would have bought another Maxima but they started putting 3.5 liter engines in them. Bad for gas.

  • Best Used Car Ever! - 1995 Nissan Maxima

I bought my SE used in 98 w/56K miles on it. It now has 154K and other than a few maintenance items, the car is solid and fun to drive. I have a few aftermarket items (intake, down pipe, suspension) on it, but replacing the taillights (white & red) and adding clear bumper lenses has taken years off the appearance. People cannot believe the car is almost 10 years old. Maxima.org has maintenance and performance insight and that community has been invaluable for the weekend mechanic and do it yourselfer.
