This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

This car is just what I was looking for. After trading in an Eclipse I was looking for something with good pickup and sporty handling and found it. The gas millage hasnt been quite what I expected at 20 mpg but that was only the 2nd fill up. The interior is very roomy and also accommodates for the shorter driver.

  • Me and my Altima - 2005 Nissan Altima

Ive now had my Altima 2.5S for six months, replacing a Sentra SE. It is a quantum leap up from the Sentra. Ride, comfort, style all a step up. Performance from a 2.0 5 speed manual to a much bigger, heavier car is down some. Do miss ABS. Love the newly styled interior - looks to me like it belongs in a more expensive car. Fit and finish are excellent, with no problems since I picked up the keys from the dealer. Id recomment this car over Camry any day.

This is the second Altima Ive owned. My first was a 1998 before purchasing a 2005 3.5 SL. I love the power and ride this vehicle delivers. Ive owned Nissans since 1986 and they keep getting better all the time.

I first bought my Altima in 2002. I traded it in 2005. And I tell you I am glad I did. The car is super. Even my wife who is used to GM cars loved it too. I have recommended this car to lots of my friends.

  • after 4 months, still no regrets - 2005 Nissan Altima

I finally bought the 2005 Altima 3.5se with leather sport package, Bose stereo system, fully loaded except for Nav. It took me 8 months to decide on a car and I am so glad I bought this one. I read lots of mediocre reviews, but I only have the most positive things to say about this car. Heard things like interior felt cheap and the stereo was poor quality. I can not agree. The stereo is crystal clear 99% of the time and picks up stations in L.A. which is 150 miles away! Leather is superb, nothing feels cheap about the car. In fact, went test driving some B.M.W s with a friend and we both liked my Nissan better! Its roomie, sturdy, powerful, and classy. 100% what I wanted!

Brought car 11 months ago, has left me stranded twice & towed in. In shop at least once a month. No motor noise when brought car, now motor noise gets louder everyday. Depending on whom you talk to there are a 100 different reasons but nothing to worry about as it is still under warranty (per Leith parts manager). If gets too bad can replace engine if complain enough. Have had to replace fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel cap, repair transimission and fuel pump. Would not buy another Nissan from Leith. The parts department is a nightmare. No two people can agree on what was done to your vehicle or what was wrong with it. Rarely does work report and verbal report agree.

  • I love my new car!! - 2005 Nissan Altima

Just bought yesterday-had an XE Sentra that was totalled and decided to upgrade. I LOVE IT!! My mom used to have a 1993 Altima and they have improved the space tremendously!!! It really is a great car for the price. My payments really arent that much more than I had for my Sentra.

    - This was the roomiest car Ive ever really fit into as my previous cars, in order, were: Civic, Corolla then Passat (leased) and my first w/auto transmission. - Bought car in Sept. 2005 used with 20,001 miles on it. Found out it was previously owned by Enterprise Rental, but warranty was almost used up hence price ~6k below retail cost! - Had to buy an extended 3yr. warranty which paid itself off later. Then bought another final ext. warranty for an add. 3 yrs. later. - After many repairs years later, it still works but isnt that fuel efficient, 23/27 city/hwy but winter brings it down to 18/24 city. - Too many repairs now so wont consider another Nissan >:(

  • 2005 Altima SL over Accord EX - 2005 Nissan Altima

Nissan has won me over. Having owned a 95 Acura Legend, a 2001 Accord, and a 2003 Oddessy, I was a loyal honda customer - the key word is was. I test drove both cars, and felt the Altima was a better car in the top of the line trim vs the accord ex v6. The redesigned Altima interior for 2005 is a nice improvement, although some of the compartment doors still feel a little cheap. What sold me was the performance of the Nissan v6. It is smooth, throaty, and has gobs of power at the will of your right foot.
